I seriously doubt Yao has any issues with Cato. We need to stay away from gov't controlled sh*t sites like Sina.com. Every media outlet in China is controlled by the state, all they ever wanna do is tell people to think that other people (non-Chinese) are responsible for the bad things that happen to good Chinese people. They're over-dramatic, and they represent about all the old fartbags who worshipped Mao when he was running around f*cking up China. How do I know this? Because I am Chinese. Trust me, nothing's going on between these two. Just more of the same old propaganda bullsh*t that the younger generation gets so embarassed by. I dont think team chemistry is much of a problem, some of the guys might be hatin' on Yao because of the attention (which is natural) but it aint like he got a big head about it. If Cato rips a board from Yao its cuz he's eager to do his role which is to grab rebounds and play good defense, not because he's trying to show Yao up. End of story

That reporter is just trying to portray healthy peer competition as a sort of in house rivalry. Nothing to worry about.

I can sure,it is just a aimless article from a brainless reporter, the reporter just try to make some exclusive viewpoint, the part about Cato is all his very own imagination, nothing to worry about.

i'm native chinese and read chinese well, someone is right, people should stop posting article from china media, there too much aimless article there.

I just want to say, I absolutely LOVE reading all the posts from our relatively new Chinese Rockets fans.. please keep posting guys! :)

heh I wish some of our 'American' posters could develop as good a grasp of the English language as so many not born into it have done.

    ;)

(yes, I know that's not saying much!)

You are over stating it. Yes, The Chinese gov. may have control over political news but to say that they use a sport news to brain wash Chinese people so that they think that other people (non-Chinese) are responsible for the bad things that happen to good Chinese people are just pure bull$hit. And one thig, Sina.com or Sohu.com are not state own media. I can understand it if you have any hatred toward Chinese gov., but please, at least has some sense. The article about Yao and Cato is just some crap make up by reporter to attract eye ball, nothing to do with gov. propaganda.

    yb001,

this is off topic, but lets not be naieve about things here. Everything public that comes out of China at this point has to be seriously taken with a grain of salt. You dont think the gov't uses sports to influence people? What about all that parading stuff they do on the Olympic athletes? Hey they deserve the accolades cuz they good, but cmon, lets not be gullible about it. These guys have been practically raised by the state since day 1 and bred to be basically atheltic machines, because the gov't knows that Chinese athletes making an impact internationally is good for nationalistic pride, which can then be used in other ways such as forgetting that the country is run by 70 year olds out of touch with the rest of the population. You dont think they're milking this yao thing for all its worth? What about when Wang Zhi Zhi decided he didnt wanna play by their rules no more? As long as Yao goes and plays for China during the summer when he should be relaxing), he will be the golden boy. Face it, the gov't has a heavy handed approach when it comes to their athletes. You can have your opinion, but dont be naieve about things.

Way off base to attribute over dramatic journalism to government censorship or influence. This kind of thing is akin to the British tabloid media's obsession on Princess Diana's underwear brand. No difference from the Hong Kong's trashy magazine's endless paparazzo talk, say, a female singer steps into another rival's romance trying to steal away her boyfriend. Blah blah blah... As a Hong Kongese growing up reading those trashy mags I know enough to say that the mainland reporters are at kindergarten level in comparison with Hong Kong reporters sh*t digging skills. The exaggerating and speculative writing style is going to remain after the dictatorship in China is gone, trust me, and it might get even worse if these reporters get their passports to write anything they want to.

Interstingly, Mengke Bateer is NOT getting the same type of lip service from the Chinese media. As a Mongolian Chinese, isn't it good for interracial relationship for the Chinese government to order portraying Bateer as a solitary hero standing among a herd of jealousy raptors that work together to take away his shots and PT, instead of just let it be as it is, that Bateer is a no show right now? It's all about eyeballs, ratings and money these days in the entertainment sector.

Hey, I've seen these actual headlines in the Weekly World News:

"Strong Wind Blows Balloon-Selling Midget 20 Miles"

"Sleeping Hunter Gets 200 Stitches After Raccoon Tries to Mate with Coonskin Cap"

Just because something shows up in a paper doesn't make it true.
