That people need to stop comparing Kobe to Jordan. The difference in will power is so gigantic. Jordan right now would have those Lakers in the same position as they are now. Thats how un-Jordan-esque Kobe Bryant is. Very few have the ability of devastating will power. Kobe definitely does not possess it. Its clear now.

It's not the fact that the Lakers are losing, or the fact that this would be the second consecutive time Kobe loses in a finals showing, but the fact that he's struggled himself in the series, he may not even be the best player in this series thus far. I think Pierce has been more impressive (especially with his D), Allen has been more 'clutch' overall, and he just hasn't shot too well in a couple of games.

I think people were expecting Kobe to be 'Jordanesque', and that's really the source of their criticism/frustration with his performance, because he hasn't been dominant...Jordan-like, that is.

The problem might be with expectations rather than reality...

Dude, you would've made a great scout under John Weisbrod when he was in Orlando...

OR maybe even Chris Wallace would be looking at hiring you right now!

I might have exaggerated when I said the whole "best supporting cast in NBA history", but if take off your Kobe-loving blinds and try to look at it objectively, it's not that unbelievable. I'm talkin Supporting Cast, as in role players surrounding a SINGLE superstar on a team. you're right, this LA team isn't anywhere close to being one of the greatest in history, but consider this:

-are they worse than Hakeem's supporting cast (a madman, an alien-looking rookie, and a no-namer that Charles Barkley makes fun of)?

    NO

-are they worse than Shaq's supporting in LA a while back? (an ugly guy by the name of "fox" and an arrogant young mamba who liked to shoot it a lot)

    NO

this doesn't make 'em the best supporting cast in history, but they're pretty damn good, and you can't blame them for Kobe's failure to "impose his will" (stolen from Tmac :D ) and win it.. that's what annoys me: Kobe gets all the credit when his team wins, and his teammates get all the bashing when the team loses..(dang, I know this guy who wears No.1 and he is treated the exact opposite, he has a bad case of lazy eye IIRC)..

This is the truest statement I have ever read in a kobe vs Jordan debate thread.

I didn't say the series was over, I said Kobe would never reach the godlike status of MJ.

Tiger: Hey did you hear about the one where Kobe is better than you?

MJ: LOL! It cracks me up every time. What is funnier is the Lakers blowing that lead against the Celtics the other night. Now thats comedy!

Paul 'better than Kobe' Pierce should probably rethink his unique ability to shoot 2-14 in the Finals if he wants to be better thank Kobe (as advertised).

Pierce is awesome! (when he has 2 superstars with him).

I always thought Jordan, while he was with the Wizards, could've won a ring with Shaq like Bryant did.
