good post Brooks needs to start and Chuck Hayes is a defensive monster always holds his own even if he is undersized. He shut down Garnett and Aldridge when he was on them. We will be fine when the BATMAN returns. Shane Battier's threes and defense and hustle.
Can't buy into your assessment of Brooks yet. Its too early. He did great last night. Against one of the worst point guard units in the western conference. Lets see how he handles Nash, Paul, Williams, Davis, Parker, etc... Or more importantly... How they handle him.
you think rafer can handle them or that they cannot handle rafer??? what brooks has done last night and so far this year, is beyond what he did last year. first, he is changing speeds effectively. last year he had 1 gear - superfast. now, he is utilizing pace more effectively. remember the drive he had in the 2nd half where he blew by everyone for a layup? that was because he learned to slow up then burst. next lesson for brooks: change of direction. and why no mention of his defense on rudy fernandez? did u not see it? after running ron through multiple single and double staggered screens, coach switched aaron to rudy. aaron's speed COMPLETELY negated that play. this versus a hot player with more size. that deserves to be mentioned and praised, so i'll sing it! also, those elite pgs u mentioned? none can stay in front of him. deron and baron will use their size 2 bully him, the same way that gary payton did 2 parker. it took 1.5 seasons 4 parker to see the way to beat payton was w/his speed. make payton a defensive liability and u win the matchup. brooks can do the same thing vs baron & deron.
Rafer gets thrashed by nash everytime...Brooks gaves nash problems last year because of his speed and abilty to smother him.. Chris paul anal rapes rafer all day, every day. Rafe looks scared every game he plays against chris paul..I dont think brooks could do any worse william.....both gets thrashed Davis & Parker will have their way with anybody
Ron sees it the same way: (On Roy's shot) "It was a good shot. Sometimes situations like that go your way and sometimes they don't. It wa a really good shot. I'm kind of proud of him. He's come a long way and is a really good player. He squared up and focused, and that shot had to go in." "We started out the season 3-0 and I don’t think that did us any good because it didn’t give us a chance to see what we need to work on. The last couple games that we’ve lost, I think that’s doing us much better now because we’re getting a chance to see what we need to do to improve. I definitely have to back off a little bit, because you can’t have me, Yao and Tracy taking all the shots, so it’s better that I let them do what they need to do, then I can chip in and be ready." http://www.nba.com/rockets/news/Roy_Rescues_Blazers_With_Mirac-288336-34.html ------------------------------------------------- Ron's a smart dude and nailed it, especially the second part of his comments where he talks about learning from these losses. Another great aspect of Ron's game is his willingness and ability to adapt. So many players in this league are incapable of making adjustments. They are what they are and that is all they can be. Ron is a transformer and can adapt to his environment. If he needs to take over on offense, he can and will do so. If he needs to defer, he will do that. If he needs to switch defensive assignments, he can and will. He is simply one of the most versatile players in the league and we are lucky to have him.
BrooksBall: ron sees the forest. these kneejerkers in other threads seem to expect the team to be perfect NOW(!) and go 82-0. I'm emotional about my favorite team, too, but I know this is a process that will take some time and tweaking.
