Exhibit B: The Minnesota game they kept pushing Yao off the block. Even when he did get the ball he was almost out to the three point line. It is going to take TIME for Yao to get stronger and learn how to hold his position better. Exhibit C: Do you remember how the Timberwolves used to SPANK the Rockets every time we played them? And I'm talking about during our championship years. Minnesota was the worst team in the Midwest, if not the league, during those years. Yet, we could not match up with them. The bottom line is, Cleveland did a great job matching up with us. However, you won't find me disagreeing with you on the fact that Yao would have made a huge difference in that game, given more shots. Personally, I attribute most if not all of these types of "lapses" to youth, not lack of talent or basketball skill. Mobley has been so clutch for us so many times, and he is usually the biggest scapegoat when things don't go well, either. I remember back in the early 90's when everyone was calling into the radio shows saying the Rockets could never win in the playoffs or the finals with a backcourt of Kenny Smith and Vernon Maxwell. Funny, but everyone was complaining about Vernon's undisciplined play, and Kenny Smith's lack of defense. Of course, this was after missing the playoffs one year and getting beat by Seattle the next. Point is, the next year that backcourt won an NBA championship. That's why, based on history, I'm willing to give this more time.
Your fighting a loosing battle with that one. Yao Ming had enough touches to get 12 shots for 24 points and 3 assists. He also made 8 of 9 free throw attemps. Yao was a part of the offense from start to finish. Further more there were 5 Rockets with 12 or field goal attempts and as a result we also had 5 players with double digit scoring. That was a true team effort.
I've said it before. We have to learn and play like Lakers. We have the personnel. Many fans here want our offense to be run like Kings, Dallas and NJ but the truth is that we have completely different players to them. We should play more like Lakers. I hope Steve can learn more from Kobe. Despite being called selfish by many, Kobe passes the ball to Shaq on PNR. Actually he passes to Shaq every time when Shaq is open.
Yep. And Shaq always passes to Kobe and the rest of his teammates. Kobe passes to his teammates as well. They all trust each other. But Kobe can get really mad these days...he has the right to! He is the man! Well...we can just hope the Rockets will get it and start playing real basketball. They have the potential...
I don't want to disrespect anyone, but that's so lame!!!!!! This goes right along with Steve and Cuttino's inflated opinion of themselves. What the hell have the Rockets won for teams to always get up for them? If anything, Steve and Cuttino abandon the game plan against bad teams because they look to inflate their stats or their lack of professionalism makes them believe that the game is a cake walk. Teams get up to play Jordan, Lakers, championship or playoff teams. Thats the barometer. I don't think teams are up late at night wondering about our resident lottery team.
you sure he knows? Yao shooting on a .529 FG% and drew double/triple teams while Mobley shoots .436% and often turn the ball over and still pass to Mobley most of the time?
