On my playlist at the moment:

Graham Coxon "Happiness in Magazines"- The former Blur guitarist's new album. This is wonderful...one of the most underrated guitarists ever. Stephen Street produced this and the songwriting and performances are really good.

James Brown- "The Payback"- A soulful concept album about being in pain. Er something.

The Clash- "The Essential Clash" -They weren't bad, either. The remastering job sounds fabuloso.

Harry Nilsson- "Son of Schmilsson" -I have been really getting into him lately. Harry is one of the great hidden gems in pop history- he did the soundtrack to "Midnight Cowboy," wrote the theme to The Courtship of Eddie's Father and wrote "Without You." He also did one the most badass song of all times- "Jump into the Fire" (featured in the coke-addled-paranoia-with-helicopter scene in "Goodfellas").

    The Beatles- "Abbey Road"

Queens of the Stone Age- self-titled- It's a shame they sort of broke up...they were a beast.

I like them and this album. The first song reminds me of something you would hear on the Postal Service album but in reading other reviews, it is the most disliked song by many, LOL. You will probably recognize the 2nd song as I am pretty sure it is used in some commercial. The rest is pretty good. The guy who reviewed it for Amazon said that Spoon sounds like Pavement and the Fall - I don't know what the Fall sounds like, but they definitely do NOT sound like Pavement. It is hard to describe who they sound like - I will have to know the album by heart before I can make that call.

From what I have read, "Girls Can Tell" is considered the best Spoon CD and is one I will be getting soon in the near future. You need to let us know what it is like.

    jet - get born
    led zeppelin - bbc sessions
incubus- a crow.... i've tried to like it but i can only get into megalomaniac and the title track. the rest isn't very good which is too bad cause i liked their last one alot.

alright i've never really listened to prince, i mean i know purple rain and when doves cry and that's about it. can anyone reccommend something good to introduce me to him since he's apparently the ****.

I was really hesitant to even give Prince a chance, but this chick at work had Purple Rain, so I took it. I've only heard it a couple of times, but it was much better than expected. Either that or Sign O' the Times are the consensus starting points.

"Parade" is one of my favorites of the once and future Prince. "Kiss" is perfection.

Yeahhhhhh..Girls Can Tell and Kill The Moonlight are the two worst Spoon Albums. Anyone who tells you Girls Can Tell is their best is completely clueless.

Series of Sneaks is by far the best and is one of the better, and most sverely unappreacited, records of the late 90's.

I also suggest checking out the Soft Effects EP and the The Agony of Laffite cds.

And Spoon actually used to sound a lot like Pavement. Or rather a southern version of Pavement.

Also, you'd be better served picking up a Fall records such as Hex Induction Hour or an early singles collection that you would picking up whatever pseudo-indie release is the flavor of the month.

    stellastarr* &
the stills - logic will break your heart

if you liked the postal service, stellastarr*, though not has heavily infested with electronica, provides some damn catchy tracks that you might enjoy. too early to make a call on the stills...
