Me too, did you see the post about the offensive numbers with Yao and without Tmac?

Pretty telling stat.....got to get Tmac to buy in and move his butt off the ball and get out and run.

Last time I talk about this because we are having a disconnect.

I believe JVG will do ANYTHING to win every single game he coaches, but sometimes it is better for the organization as a whole to lose games, ala tank.

The Denver game was an example of that.

As an organization in a losing year, it would have been more beneficial to LOSE that game than to win it.

Since that was a lost year, I wanted the team to get better for the NEXT year and the higher they drafted the better.

There's so many assumptions here it's silly.

Given the lineup he put out there, they had every chance of losing that game. But you don't coach a game to lose it. You don't encourage players to miss shots. Or to stop playing defense.

I'm much more comfortable with a coach who coaches to win. I'm surprised you of all people would suggest otherwise given your love for the Bum Phillips personality criteria coaches.

 

Calling someone's position silly is silly. To me what is silly is people not comprehending how a higher draft pick is more important than a meaningless win in a lost season.

You don't coach to lose per se, but you put out lineups that don't work well together, or you play deep into your bench....

You know, exactly what Denver did.

As for me and my take, I always want the organization to do what is right for itself, and in that case, losing was better than winning.

someone had to win that game, da da...to what ends do you go to make sure your team loses?? please. people have paid for tickets. you don't throw contests. and to suggest that a coach doesn't care about the franchise because he's not trying hard enough to lose is beyond ridiculous.

 

I think he cared about the franchise, but I believe he was more focused on winning each and every game, and that was the wrong approach to take at that point.

If you win playing the scrubs, so be it, but playing veterans down the stretch...stupid.

We are just not going to agree here....and JVG is no longer relevant in Houston. I am glad that Les fired him.

Sounds good, lets tank this season and next season so we can get in the lottery and have a chance at Beasley and whomever next season. This way Yao & Tmac will be 100% for the 2010 playoffs.

Getting on a coach's case for actually trying not to lose? Wow, embarrassingly dumb. I would never support a franchise that condones tanking, talk about utter disrespect to the fans.

So you have given up already? When the team has won 10 of 13.....I mean JVG even had a rough first year with Tmac but the team turned it around and won 51 games.

Why does everyone assume it can't happen with this team?
