Adelman almost blew this one he didnt rest Tmac or Alston in the 2nd half and it almost cost the team the game. DD
Maybe he heard this? "the hard work Shane, Scola, and Yao bring in the starting lineup can help energize other guys who've been in the league for a long time but came in very young" - Morey
T-mac just didn't play well at all, no if's and's but's about it. His shot was off with nobody contesting him, he couldn't finish, he couldn't get by his man, He made lazy passes. Right now it defintely isn't the coach, he just isn't playing well and you see the coach give him instructions and he doesn't even look at the play at all he looks disintersted so if adelman does give him a command he isn't even listening. It's all on t-mac now, he had the ball in his hands, he just couldn't buy a basket. He looked just as bad on defense,NO ENERGY
Actually he didn't look that bad on defense -- he did get overpowered by Artest a couple of times but he looked like he was at least trying on defense. It was on offense that he just all of a sudden turned into Lamar Odom.
He hasn't played well in a few games, but even when he was going for 33/11/6 just a week ago this same crap was going on. When you run T-Mac consistently off the high pick and roll you are encouraging bad shots and makes it 10x harder for him to get to the rim.
I'd have to completely disagree with that assessment of his D..... Is this revisionist history or something?
Actually I would be ultra curious ULTRA curious what people think about the second last play of the game. His shot was off he took it to the rack. It looked to me for all the money in the world he was going to score. but then he dished to Yao I mean what are people expecting out of him in that play
I agree. The only thing I haven't like about Rick is his management of playing time. Yao has handled it well but it may affect him come playoff time. Tracy as well, we saw him run out of steam in the playoffs.
dunking it on Artest is alot more difficult in action I did expect him to take that shot, but if it missed he would have been crucified even more
I'm not sure if T-Mac is even capable of doing that any more. He had a wide open alley-oop that he screwed up because he didn't have the lift to finish it. And he has been a poor finisher on layups all season, less than 50%.
Well he had the elevation, but simply lost the handle on the way up. As for his layups, to make matters worse his FT's have been piss poor all year.
In the post game interview Tmac said he knew he should've taken the layup instead of passing it to Yao. I think he knew he made a bad last second decision. As for the effort, it was all there tonight (well, defensively...we don't need to get into that...). For the most part he played w/ in the offense, and I only recall maybe 2 shots that were forced. He drove a bit more tonight...but I think he lost confidence in his shot in the 2nd half. Like someone else said, he only took 3 shots in the second (9 in the first half). He passed up some shots that are usually makable for him. Most telling was that botched layup/alley-oop to me though. I'm just glad to see that on two occasions we got a defensive rebound Tmac initiated the fast break. Typical Tmac would've waited for the defense to run past him and he'd dribble up. I think he's getting it and he's still adjusting. He's getting more used to the passing part, now he needs to learn to get his shot in the flow of the offense. Most importantly playing off the ball.
Sounds to me like that knee is still hurting bad. I've never seen McGrady blow a wide open alley-oop like that, ever.
tmac need a babysitter She can keep him feeded, motivated, happy, injury free, flu free, and dressed...
Tmac has never played this style of basketball before, but he's willing to adapt. He's right now in transition, give him time and he'll come around. However, I agree he tries to hard to defer. Should keep up his own offense at the same time.
he has to figure out a way to fit in. he was a great player in orlando. is that way he scored you are talking about?
