Want to feel better and not become a Celtics fan? Watch this. Full screen. NSFW but the very very good kind. http://www.video-c.co.uk/newmicrosites/microsite_watchvideo.asp?FileType=ADSLProg&vidref=alex006
Maybe add the Spurs team to your list, they seldom have any passionate dunks or fastbreaks, and their games are always boring to me. But their team looks a much better team and their games are always smooth. Celtics is great, but they have to prove themselves in the playoffs. I just miss JVG very much right now.
JVG used to preach game after game about effort and energy (as well as defense), which conveniently are exactly the weakest points this season. If Adelman wants his team to work, change up the lineup drastically (which has already been said numerous times). JVG applied a traditional, energy-packed starting lineup with Alston, Hayes, and Battier. But Adelman's system is all about movement and versatility on offense. What kind of flexibility does our team get with Hayes who can only score within 5 feet of the basket and Alston who has the most inconsistent shot on this team? Adelman just isn't getting the most out of this team and the players he has. I don't know why Adelman is trying to use the defensive, half-court, "energy and effort" type lineup that JVG established in order to try and run his uptempto, fluid, and motion-styled offense. It won't work. Start Steve Francis, who is the best penetrater on this team. Maybe start Luis Scola, who has range on his jumpshot and is a terrific passer. And then our offense would have much more movement, be more unpredictable, and make things easier for Tmac, Yao, and ultimately everyone else.
clutch, what do u think if JVG still coach rocket today and with those addition player? i think we will beat king easily 20 points and get 55+win this season? agree>?
Thats too easy... I say we keep trying to put the square peg in the round hole.... speaking of which... nice vid London'sBurning.
I'd agree it is painful to watch a rocket game now, but i want remind you this is a team just went through a total makeover on their offense system. I was expecting they finishing under 40% after first month, now they are better than I thought, and yet they have beaten Spurs and Suns, from that point of view, its not all that bad.
I still think Francis is capable of filling part of our "void". If Tmac/Yao would of played like today against the warriors, along with francis (who had a good game with tons of heart and energy) we would of won. If Francis would of played in todays game vs the Kings we would of won. theres no doubt in my mind that francis would of provided an extra lift with 15 minutes of pt....enough to win the game. Maybe adleman thought it would be safer to rest Francis than to risk him against a lottery team.
Your welcome. I think Clutch should put that in the Post Game Analysis thread to distract any posters from typing hasty angst ridden the world is coming to end topics on this board.
I think the Rockets definitely have the talent to destroy teams like this ... The thing that troubles me is that we were using Tmac the way that ended up costing us those games during the losing streak. He was basically playing point again (btw I must have missed that old big deal about Tmac being a "point forward but w/e) and tryin to get everyone a shot. Yes he got 40, can't ask for more from him. But what I'm noticing is that the players outside our big two, despite their ability, lacked a lot of things ... fire/heart/desire, urgency, confidence, etc. You have capable offensive players like scola, bonzi, james, just sitting there, watching tmac iso every play. It's like they lost their confidence in their ability to put the ball in the basket. It was blatantly obvious that each play was "get the ball to tmac or yao and hope they save us again." We all know where that path leads ... This type of play is what costs us games. We used to be able to have our big two save us more often than not last year, but it's obvious it wont happen that way as easily anymore. Our role players need to know when to maximize their abilities and when to defer to Tmac. The Francis fan in me believes that if he played, he would have inspired our players again ... that we would have won the game. But I don't see Steve Francis doing what our role players did today ... Just sit there and let Tmac do his thing for every single play. Steve ain't one to forget that he can get to the rim. He'll take advantage if someone takes him lightly. He has a lot of those qualities of what our role players were missing tonight, most importantly, the heart/desire and confidence. If we could get our role players to have confidence and a tad bit of urgency ... then it'd be fair to mention us with those elite teams. Also noticed ... Bonzi needs to be used more. I found it odd that they kept posting up Tmac against artest, when Bonzi had salmons guarding him on the opposite elbow. Then they posted up Bonzi when Artest was guarding him ... was that a mistake? You'd think you would post up Bonzi when he has the advantage. My last observation: Our identity is still very unknown. No apparent reason to switch back to "rely on Tmac and Yao for 48 minutes" mode in this game. Why not continue to get Tmac his shots when he's off the ball? Sure he missed a lot in the first half, but making him create for others as well as himself all game will tire him out (maybe not in this particular game because he was on fire, but in a game 7 playoff series ...). And at the very least, if we do have Tmac create for everyone, why not surround him with shooters like Head instead of Alston? Gotta learn to play to each player's maximum strengths. In conclusion ... I think the Rockets need an awesome motivational speaker
dude, I'll tell ya the way. write to Les, ask him fire the head coach: The IDLEMAN. get Gundy back. at least with gundy coaching the team, with this roster, in about 55-60 nights out of 82, you'll feel very good. First round lose? doesn't matter, it's just pain for a week. With IDLEMAN coaching, you gonna feel bad both in regular season and playoffs.
It's always painful to lose especially to a under .5 team. The good thing is there are 64 games left. I would be worried if we perform like this after ALL STAR game. Analytically, Adelman need to do something now and make sure we improve and get better in several areas. I have identify some areas i) SHOOTING TO SCORE (NOT TO MISS AND THAT INCLUDES FT) ii) INTENSITY/HEART (Adelman need to do something to get these guys fire up) iii) RIGHT COMBINATION WITH RIGHT GAME PLAN (Adelman is doing this now but I think he should explore Landry and AB as well) iv) INDIVIDUAL IMPROVEMENT TRAINING SCHEME (I think there some obvious weakness on individual players that can be improved on though it cannot be totally eliminated. I know some will said they have been on such training or they are not good for such and such but don't tell me you can't improve by specialised training. Remember Yao got specialised training on fouling and low post game even though he don't have any when he joined NBA).
No worries, there's no fundamental flaws with this team, once RA figures out it's best to ditch the triple backups from the starting lineup and play this lineup we'd be fine: 1.SF/Mike James/Aaron Brooks 2.Bonzi Wells/Kirk Snyder/Luther Head 3.Tracy McCrady/Shane Battier 4.Luis Scola/Shane Battier 5.Yao Ming/Luis Scola Too much talent is sitting on the bench watching scrubs play. That's the problem. Can't get excited about that. People are wondering why the system reward unproductive scrubs. Change the lineup and unleash the firepower, RA!
