No, organized crime does not have that influence and it never did with the top athletes that made enough. We are at a point where a player like James Harden should have at least $800 million in career earnings. You don't seem to understand basketball, so I doubt you know anything about sports betting, but that is not how it works. There are max bets per casino, audits that would red flag a point shaving scheme, the IRS, and plenty of other reasons why it would never be financially beneficial for James Harden or pretty much any NBA player to be involved in point shaving.
