Actually that guy was brought down today.

he went 44 days with no food. He only had water and was in a glass box.

Well it was beyond me when I moved here.

Then I had a 'chance' to go to Talladega. I still didn't get it, but it's unfreakingbelievable how much people love it.

It's the only sport where the higher up you are, the more expensive the ticket.

The tobacco usage is rampant at these races; even the dogs smoke.

I like playing count the black people at the NASCAR race. By estimation, there may, I repeat may have been at most 20 out of 100,000-150,000 people.

And you didn't add how it ties up traffic on I-20 for an entire weekend and how you see more mullets on guys with Rebel flags screaming "Dale Jr. is God!" and chicks with bad peroxide jobs and Virginia Slims hanging from their gullets. It is dreadful. I had to cover a race and I just didn't see the point. You turn left, avoid hitting people (unless you're rubbing and according to Days of Thunder, rubbin's racin').

I think a lot of it is the horsepower fascination and the fact that rednecks like anything loud, obnoxious and violent. The attitudes of Tony Stewart and other "bad boys" show why the red necks love it so. I don't mean to demean these folks, it's just not my lifestyle.

Is it like WWE where its more the storyline of the characters (in this case drivers) than it is really the race?

And if the mullets like NASCAR then why the hell dont they like Formula 1 racing?

It's even more boring than NASCAR and it is a European thing. I always hate the mention junkie b.s. because when a driver wins a race, he always says this little spiel: "The Viagra Depends Budweiser Pontiac ran real good today. My crew did a great job and I'd like to thank my other sponsors........"

    Formula 1 racing is 'classy'.

It's extremely popular in Europe for different reasons.

See, if I wanted to see an auto race, I would rather actually see a race (by definition) rather than seeing loud, very fast cars go around in circles.

Those races where you see a driver and a passenger going through a course is more exciting; it's actually trying to get to a different finish point. I'm not terribly 'turned on' by that racing either, but it's more entertaining.

Oh, apparently there's a NASCAR driver with one eye. One may ask how is he able to drive with one eye. Well, you only need one eye for left turns.

you know what? like I said:

IF YOU DONT LIKE IT THERE'S NOTHING I CAN SAY TO MAKE YOU THINK OTHERWISE.

so if you want to go on your little rampage about something you dont understand, fine. I'm just gonna take my happy little NASCAR watching @$$ and leave. That goes for you too, Dallas. You can vent all you want on here, but don't bring it up around me.

Well, if you knew that there's 'nothing you can say to make people think otherwise,' why did you bother with a two-paragraph post basically plugging it?

All I was saying is those 'facts' you were giving in support were a little smoke-and-mirror-ish.

Don't get all pissy with me because Jeff Gordon won today. Don't you have homework that's supposed to be keeping you occupied all day today?

I'm not that into nascar or anything but I don't mind it. I've started warming up to the sport after watching two anime, one called initial D and the other one a futuristic racing story line. Ofcourse I also started liking tennis after watching an anime about tennis..........

I think half of the drivers have to stop and ask for directions in the road courses.

The sport simply doesn't do well on television. That's probably why the events draw so many people at the tracks. From what I've heard, it's like hockey, a lot better in person.

    One thing I don't understand:

Why put the #3 on your car only when someone dies? I mean, how can you be a fan and not put the #3 while the person is alive?

Why do you have to wait until a driver dies to put his number on the back of your pick-up truck?

Anyway... the KATY Mickey D's all have tall windows for the drive-thru... I told the girl at the window: "Hey, why is this window so tall? Not everybody in Katy has a truck and is a Nascar fan, you know?"

What is more fun than watching boxey cars driving around in ovals?

Touring Car and Rally racing is much more exciting to watch...

I think NASCAR is a good ol' boys sport.

    I like some Auto Racing.

    I like CART.

I will tell you why I like CART.

CART runs on temporary street courses, and road tracks, and the ovals.

The problem I have with CART is that all the good drivers are moving to IRL.

IRL only races on oval tracks which I find boring.

    Therefore end of that.

It might be a different story when Toyota starts running their Toyota Camry in 2005.

I remember some of the good ol boys were opposed to Toyota Joining their frat.

I remember Mark Martin saying something like "i'm not real crazy about it, but they are going to compete and bring in alot more money into NASCAR."

I guess everybody likes green though.
