i'm not sure his exact average, but during the last part of the season, when minesota was in tank mode, he was doing fine. he has more upside then novak. and doesn't have a low iq like snyder.
ABSOLUTELY!!! Just click on the link below that describes my reasoning as to why it's not happening. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=3158649&postcount=46
From last two preseason game, Reed has less PT. He will be cut inevitable. He just a sweet for the trading.
Rafer, Sura and Snyder for Cat. Rafer has been playing well but we don't need 5 PGs (or four for that matter) and we are keeping James, Francis, and Brooks. Sura is a contract at this point and Snyder gives them another SG to take Cat's spot. We get Cat back, clear up some room at the point and a couple of roster spots. Everybody wins.
outside of you and maybe a few people, the rest of us do not want to see act 2 of iso, iso, iso, iso, and then more iso. NO THANKS!
or you will regret when steveO starts to drible the clock out and MJ starts to wave off Tmac and Yao.
How do two preseason games, one of which was against a Greek team without its T-Mac, suddenly make it undesirable to dump Rafer and his salary? Any reasonable trade that involves him would help financially and not hurt us on the court.
Have you seen Cat play since JVG came to the Rockets? He only did that ISO stuff under Rudy. He adapted perfectly to JVGs system and had a great season under Adelman in Sacramento shooting the three at a 44% clip and maintaining his solid defense. He and Cassell even managed to help turn around the Clippers, which is not easy to do. Hell, Steve's game was more based on ISOs and everyone (everyone but me anyway) seems happy enough to have him back.
Some more ideas: Trade Snyder to Seattle for their 2.5 M trade exception - they are young, are trying to rebuild, and could use another young, athletic player like Snyder (they can take on his salary without going over the luxury tax level). Trade Jackie Butler to Denver for 2.3 M of their 2.9 M trade exception, and throw in some cash - they could use another big man as insurance because Camby, Nene and Martin always go down. Trade Rafer and Reed to the Clippers for Cassell. Trade Rafer, Sura, Snyder, Lucas to Minnesota for Ratliff and his expiring contract. Trade Rafer and Sura to Seattle for Kurt Thomas.
Cavs: Shannon Brown (expiring) + Anthony Tolliver (non-guaranteed) + Darius Rice (non-guaranteed) for Kirk Snyder Rockets save: 1.2M Celtics: $1.08M TE leftover from trading Delonte West for JLIII. They need PG help. I don't know how true this is but Scalabrine is ranked 3rd among PF in 3P% here: http://www.hoopsstats.com/basketbal...tics/players/brian-scalabrine/profile/07/2/27 If there is some truth to the above then isn't he be what the Rockets are hoping Novak might develop into to? Anyhow he can cover/play 3, 4, 5 but you don't really want him to. Like Butler how covers C but if he sees the floor it's probably not ideal. TE for JLIII Brian Scalabrine + Jackie Manuel (non-guaranteed) for Butler + Reed Rockets save: 1.6M Everyone that gets traded for are waived except Scalabrine because of his multi-year contract. Of Harris, Landry, and Novak. Two are kept and one is cut.
Last year we needed Rafer as our third option. He had to take and make those shots. We don't need that from him this year. We need him to run the break (he is better than all other guards on the team in this regard), initiate the offense (he does a great job of this) and play good help defense (he always gets 2 - 3 steals a game it seems like). He is our most valuable pg.
why would anyone trade with us before we make our cuts, esp for people that will most probably be cut?
Just reviewing the Sonics. Durant is going to start. No way will both Durant & Green at least for not yet. PJ will most likey start Damien Wilkins at SF. Snyder is a definate upgrade over Wilkins. Though they don't have a single 2.5M TE to use and TE's can't be packaged. IMO Ridnour & Watson will get he bulk of the minutes at PG. Ridnour's newly extended starting at 6.5M and is BYC in other words he not going anywhere. Watson is arguably their best PG, most probably best fit for Durant because of his D and will go complain crazily if he doesn't get his minutes. Adding Wally and his max level contract to the mix (2 years) and there's little room for Delonte who's an expiring contract. I doubt they re-sign him. Heading into fantasy trade territory a Delonte for Snyder trade would give Morey Iron GM status. Then also dump Rafer's contract...
What about a trade with Seattle where we give them our junk for their junk (aka Wally). Wally + Delonte for Lucas + Reed + Novak + Snyder + Sura + Alston We get out of roster hell and they get out of one of the worst contracts in the league. We lose Rafer but we get a pretty good replacement with West.
I would trade Snyder for nothing at all or a 2nd rounder. He's got a contract any team would love and will be on someone's roster this season. I can't see any other trades happening anytime soon. JL3, Sura and Reed will be cut and nobody is dumb enough to take on Jackie Butler's contract.
How about Alston, Sura, Snyder, Butler for Lafrentz - I think someone suggested something similar in another thread. Then trade Lucas for a 2nd round pick and cut Reed - done.
Why would the Rockets make a trade that would put them FURTHER over the luxury tax just for the sake of trimming the roster? Unless the Rockets can get a good player and regular contributor, they will not use Sura's contract in a trade. The same thing goes for the proposed Wally World trade above.
