If you really think Aaron Brooks was only hot for a short playoff burst, you are the one with selective memory.
It's funny how people ignore half the game and only compare players on one end of the court. That's the definition of selectivity.
hahaha, you forgot to mentioned yao didn't contribute anything since portland realized they had to double team yao (not just fronting him) in the rest of the series after the 1st game.
Has anyone ever noticed that when PEOPLE like to call out a selective group of PEOPLE in a negative way they like to use the word PEOPLE???!? God that's become so annoying. People this, people that.
I don't mind the trade. Yes, Brooks was a great player for us, but as has been stated before, there's no need to pay 2 point guards starter money especially if neither of them are all star level. We'll be in a better position to get other talent with this trade.
Brooks is not a bad player. He is just not better than Lowry and he doesn't want to be a backup. Oh, and, he would want to get paid more than we would want to pay him.
Precisely, and I remember PG's consistently going off on us every single night, until we put Lowry in. Selective memory?
Trading a petulant undersized shooting guard with confidence issues who has below average court vision, non-existent defense, iffy handles, average midrange game, and looking to get paid is a big mistake now? You AB nut huggers can join the Sun's forums, while the rest of us can enjoy a PG who even if his shot doesn't fall, is a pretty good passer, great hustler, good rebounder (for a guard), and pretty darn good defender. You realize that there is more to a basketball game then simply scoring right? Oh right, what am I thinking, believing AB lovers actually knew anything about basketball. They are too blinded by flashiness and points. Probably the same people who worshiped SF3.
Yao definitely won us the Portland series but you are right, people are very disrespectful of what Brooks did for us.
fans are always trying to find someone to blame. the fact of the matter is AB was awesome for us in the begining. this year he was a problem. I am not sure it warranted him to be traded but his actions are also partly the reason he was dealt. not to mention his lack of D. i also wonder if his agent could be part of the reason he was dealt. If i am not mistaken, he's agent is World Wide Wes, I wonder if rockets management dont like dealing with him. Could that be a factor?
My short-term memory reminds me of a shot-junkie who walked out on his team on T.V. Or does my memory have to become shorter?
I don't have the game memorized or anything, but I remember being appalled at what a non-factor our superstar could be relegated to so easily. Even if you're double-teamed, you should at least be able to make your presence felt somehow. I know a lot of people feel like losing Yao meant our hopes of winning a championship went away, but I never felt like Yao was the elite level of superstar to take us to the championship anyway.
Brooks brought this on himself by...... 1) becoming a diva with his actions and his mouth saying he deserved to get paid with an extension. 2) not proving himself on the court. (in particularly this year, since one year of good basketball does not mean you are proven imo). On the other hand, Lowry last year in a similar situation where he was content being a back up but knew he also wanted to start never complained about money or positon. He instead shut his mouth continued to play hard and this year even improved himself. That speaks louder than words! 3) strike three comes this season whenAaron had the little incident where he quit on the team. Sad to say, but if you want to stay competitve in today's NBA the only people you meet demands for and or make exceptions for are PROVEN NBA superstars.( or sometimes people who make you tons of money, cause essentially that is what proven Superstars do) Aaron Brooks as much potential as he may have (which is arguable) is not a proven starter with one good year of basketball much less a Superstar. I guess I don't feel sorry for Aaron that he is no longer a Rocket and glad that DM didn't let himself get put into a corner by a player the caliber of an Aaron Brooks. ( Mind you, I am not an AB hater, cause I wish him well in Phoenix but I am calling it like I see it.)
I love the way Dragic has been playing. At this point I think the trade was fantastic for the Rockets.
