    That was when the three guard line up was by far the best team we could put on the floor. I see Griffin replacing all of Walt/Shandon's sarting 3 minutes and about half o Moochies minutes by keeping Steve and Cat at the 1 and 2. At least by mid season anyway.

    Carlos Rogers is officially a free agent. The Rockets had until July 1 to pick up the team option on Rogers' contract. Since the deadline passed without the Rockets doing anything, Carlos must be signed to a NEW contract in order to be signed-and-traded.

    None of this applies to rookie "scale" contracts signed by first round draft picks. These contracts may be extended from August 1 to October 31 of the player's fourth (option) season. The salary in the first year of the extension is limited only by the maximum salary, and raises are limited to 12.5% of the salary in the first season of the extension. Rookie "scale" contracts cannot be extended unless the team picks up the player's option for the fourth season.
