Well this is whats on the Rumor Mill at ESPN as of today: Friday, April 28 WHO INTERESTED THE SKINNY Mario Williams Texans? Williams No. 1? <Apr. 28> Talks between the Texans and Williams have heated up to a point that they are serious, according to ESPN.com's John Clayton. Now that the Texans are offering more than the money paid to Alex Smith -- the first pick in last year's draft -- Williams has an offer he might feel comfortable accepting. Reggie Bush is still the odds-on pick to go No. 1, but Williams is definitely still in the mix.
Would this help in a possible trade down situation? Or would they start all over if we take Williams like at the 3rd pick.
Jeez, I like Mario but I don't think it's a good idea to take him #1. I don't know a lot about him because I don't watch....well, any NCState games, but I've heard he sort of came on towards the end of the season and that he tends to take plays off. JUST PICK BUSH!
I watched several NCST games over the past two years and the only player that really jumped out to me was Manny Lawson. Like one scout put it: "If I wasn't told that I was there to see Mario Williams, I would not have even noticed." Also, Lawson was declared the team's MVP.
That's what I thought as well watching NC State this year. Lawson was consistent, Mario looked great at times and was just another player sometimes.
and my hope that by this time tomorrow is that he is just another Saints player (read: any professional team not named the Texans).
Not that I watched any of the games, but maybe Mario was receiving the double teams which allowed Lawson to have single coverage.
Some of you guys are so set in stone, but you have to realize there is a real possibility that Mario will be the #1 pick.
maybe in a fantasy football draft or some other draft, not tommorrow. Zero chance williams goes number one
Really? Not from anything I've heard (I'm not talking about on TV or the radio). Unless Reggie Bush says today "I will not play for Houston" or decides to make a completely unrealistic demand then his name will be called first tommorrow.
Don't count your chickens before they are hatched throat boys ~ there is a lot of Mario chatter right now and not just from espn. LOTS...
Chris Mortenson just reported that according to Bob McNair, the Texans have been in EXCLUSIVE negotiations with Mario Williams in the last 24 hours.
The 6:30 news conference (Sat) will probably be Casserly announcing he is leaving the team. I would guess the first thought about trading back into the 1st would be if Justice fell, and seccondly, and just like Casserly, it might be to get Cromartie, an untested player with injuries but a ton of potential. The probable trading partner would be Chicago @ 26. From 33 up to 26 at the cost of a fourth.
