Sound right (I don't know figures but like I stated in my earlier posts they felt they might have the contract done as early as today). I know Bush came down on his contract demands so he probably is close to the Smith range.
I'd be pissed if I were Mario too, but he (or his agent) should be smart enough to figure out what was going on. It's all part of how the game is played and they should know that. Still, I'd hate to be David Carr the first time we play whoever drafts Mario...
That's how I feel too. Most everyone knew Bush was McNair's guy (and McNair got involved in the process pretty heavily) so I have to figure that Williams knew that as well. I think he's worried about what's going to happen with the saints. Hopefully that won't be the case.
Despeite some rumblings i think we are going to stand pat and draft whomever falls into our lap and our fans will come out of this draft happy.
CC has had nothing to do with any off-season moves or the draft. All he has done is assist Kubiak/Reeves, and co. I know that from an agent of a free agent that was signed who dealt with Casserly initially, but all contact after that was with Kubiak directly. I will say that there is alot of misinformation in this thread.
If he has nothing to do with the draft, then why is he anouncing that they have no intention of taking Young?
You do understand that it's not the puppet but the ventriliquist that is speaking, right? I know it's confusing because his lips are moving. But it's really the other guy, not the puppet, who is saying the words.
I guess the spokesman at the White House as alot to do with policies too, right? Like I said at this point he is more of an enabler up there now. Decisions are not being made by him. I think that would be obvious from this active off-season we have had.
You've been misinformed. My track record on this site speaks for itself but let's disregard that for a second. If CC had nothing ot do with FA's or our draft then why is he always the person discussing our moves (like the poster above mentioned) and why is he still here until after the draft? I'm not saying that Kubiak and Reeves don't have a say but CC is involved. You got some bad information from that agent.
I don't think Casserly is all to blame for the bad draft day moves. After all, he's going after players that fit Dom's scheme...ie Jason Babin for the 3-4 defense. I don't think Kubiak and his crew needs a certain "type" of player...maybe that'll free up Casserly to look at some different talent. And if you think it's just Casserly making these calls you're probably crazy...he's getting input from scouts and the rest of the coaching staff, and I'm sure they come to some kind of an agreement on who to take.
Despite all of his screw ups McNair still respects CC's opinion. If you don't think he's had involvement in our offseason and our draft then you're just plain wrong. I know this to be fact. The first pick was not his choice (it was McNair who stepped in). He had Kubiak's blessing but it was McNair's pick. Of course the head coach is going to have say so in the signing of FA's, that such an obvious thing to say.
Thanks KAS13 for sharing. P.S. There you go again with predicting the future with absolute certainty (even if you saw the actual contract with your eyes)
exactly, i read this yesterday as well on the on the web and at a texans board. why would you post this as insider news kas?
Which is ridiculous...Alex Smith was overpaid...and here we are doing the same...A RB will not take us to the promise land... However, we're stuck with Carr and need to improve the D quick...
No problem. I haven't seen the actual contract but I have heard from several people very close to the negotiations that it's almost done. That article on NFL.com that someone just recently posted sounded very similar to what i've heard. Hopefully, I'll have something else later in the day.
Didn't see it. I don't pay attention to all that. When I got a chance this morning i just posted everything I had heard since I posted yesterday. I didn't know some guy from NFL.com had already posted it. This is the first site i visit when I get a chance in the morning. If you read my post that wasn't the only insider thing I posted. In fact it was a minor part. I even acknowledged it when someone put it in this thread. From a personal standpoint, whenever I hear something I'm going to post it (if I can). I can't keep up with everything that's already been said or printed, it's impossible. I'm pretty sure most people would rather hear a bunch of stuff they ordinarily wouldn't and a few things they may have heard already then nothing at all.
Whatever floats your boat man, if you want to be known as the "Texans Insider" I will let you. I said what I know is true and you can have your "insider news" about contracts that has already been reported on media outlets. I am not going to get into a pissing contest about who knows what because that is pointless. I know people who work in a support capacity at Reliant that have to have daily contact with Kubiak/McNair/Casserly and the players. I am not talking about trash pick up or security. Maybe your sources work in a different capacity but comparing notes from the agent, my sources, and a few members of the media , I am pretty confident that Casserly's role is exactly as was described. Again, I don't care what you believe or what you were told, a e-penis contest has never been my cup of tea. Continue to be the official source of Texans news on Clutchfans.
