Man, what is wrong with some people? I would go ahead and give these idiots the death penalty. The sooner we rid of idiots like these the better.

I'm sure Prophet Muhammed would be very happy they were trying to kill "as many people as possible". Especially in his name.

    Dumb asses.

For the record, Mathloom supports the suspects arrested in the article above per post 92 in this thread.

After reading that again, I am still astounded some 12 months later.

Wow, it's actually really sad looking at the post dates of the last two pages.

Like some people just can't let go

Not too long ago the national arts people put on an exhibit where ants were crawling on the painted figure of Jesus. It was merely the latest of the "art" defaming Christ and Christianity. There were a lot of upset Christians, but I can't recall any of them attacking the "artists" with an axe or any other weapon other than criticism.

Personally, I think it's time to castrate all terrorists, including corpses. and burn the appendages. That would certainly emasculate the terrorist movement by removing any hope of a rewarding afterlife.

This would be our version of the Muslim edict: "Off with his head!"

One other thing, if they are convicted, they should do whatever is necessary to deter others from doing the same thing, whether it is a head on a pike, or burying them covered in pigs blood.

Whatever it takes to deter anyone else from doing it. If these guys are going to be religious extremists, you have to use that extremism against them.

The governments should be like, if you do this, you will face eternal damnation....use their own weak mindset against them.

I find one element to this debate missing in a big way.

How come no one is asking or debating "what is the most effective way to fight extremism"

I see a lot of condemnation of Islam and a lot of excuses as to why extremism exists, but zero solutions.

These posts were so revealing. Wolf in sheep's clothing.

And the sad thing is, he would probably be considered "moderate" compared to some of the other posters here (Hydhypedplaya, adeelsiddiqui, trustme, NMS is the best, etc.).

So we just had that Mormon cartoon posted in the other thread - do you see any Mormons trying to kill the creator of that cartoon?

The whole "it's just a few people at the fringes" argument doesn't hold water. The fringes partly define you. And the fringe would not be where it is if the center was farther away from it. In other words, there is a lot of tacit and non-tacit support for these kinds of things.

    See: Mathloom et al.

I'd have to disagree...I know you are talking emotionally, and I agree with your emotions, but I think we have to be better than these people.

I agree with you disagreeing. However, is it also possible that Mathloom was only "talking emotionally" in the infamous post 92?

No, because he confirmed and tried to defend it in several other posts over a certain timespan.

I copied and pasted some of his statements (also in response to a question by you, I just noticed) here:

Doubtful, seeing as he repeatedly tried to defend or alter the stance in later posts only to essentially state the same thing again (see posts 168 and 215 for my reactions to two of those instances). Alternatively (and more probable, I think) is that the emotional component is permanent in regards to the topic. And that's...disturbing.

I do take it back actually. Was a stupid thing for me to say. Though I don't really expect anyone to take my word/apology for it so I hope I'm able to show my revised mentality in my posts in the future.

I do feel obliged to thank those who have given me constructive information to change my mind. God knows I've said/thought worse things in the past, I'm just thankful/hopeful that I don't have to stew in my own stupidity all the time.

To be fair and transparent, it wasn't an emotional response. I actually believed it to be a fair assessment. That's why I understand the skepticism towards it being an emotional outburst rather than a thought-out position.

I do still feel the dude is a total douche, but he should have the ability to be a douche and not worry about being murdered. But anyways, like I said, hopefully future posts will do the talking for me.

Obviously you're fully informed on this topic, please describe the piece you're referring to, in total, and the artist's reason for using the imagery he did. No google.

Fire with fire, eye for an eye.....wrath of God sort of thing....

    ;)

They are counting on us being civilized, I think you have to break some eggs to make an omlette. Send them to eternal damnation...see how willing they are then.....when their remains are covered in pigs blood.
