Agree with all of this post. Those of us that do research can not afford to allow our own bias affect the outcome of studies. It is a sad state of affairs that the well has been poisoned to the degree that people would assume we inject our own bias into a study. Why would we risk our career and integrity to do so? Now, if I am a progressive liberal my field of study focus may be in progressive liberal positions or causes but to inject bias into the actual research results is impermissible.

When people risk their lives and their own children, do you think the are being stupid or they are left with only that one option? They are asking for help and you give them a lecture? Which jobs are they taking away, the ones that regular americans won't do due to low pay? How many americans are going going pick fruits all day long for minimum wage? How many employers can afford that? So everything revolves about what YOU would do? I am also a child of blue collar parents who had to work for every penny, does that make my understanding better? The answer is NO. There are bigger problems in this country than immigration. This is how the Nazis presented their justification of separating the Jews. We will not kill them but just ship them out. Then policies change and next thing you know.... You boast about history but the only history you want to acknowledge is yours and forget about the other stuff and ignore what this type of behavior accomplished. I'm interested in e-verifty for employment, but leery for leases. Renting someone an apartment is just a service like selling them groceries or giving them phone service. Why limit the freedom of enterprise from this one industry while you let everyone else do business with illegals? Don't ask vendors to do immigration enforcement for you. But rights to work is something legitimately predicated on your status, so it seems perfectly appropriate to ask an employer to cooperate on an e-verify protocol.
If uniformly and effectively enforced, I have no problem with using e-verify alone in all 50 states to resolve the immigration problem.
Yes. They are being stupid by having too many kids in extreme poverty. And hurting their communities as well by leaving everyone in a state of constant panic, so much so that they would risk this knowing the consequences. Overpopulation is a real problem that liberals pretend doesn't exist. You can't complain about global warming and ignore the single largest issue that contributes to it. Endless growth and the idea that when the Earth is done providing for us, we'll find everything we need on Mars. Guest worker visas have already been used by many willing to do work Americans do not, but here's the problem. He supports 7 children back home on $750/month. There is a trickle down effect no matter who is getting paid what when you forget about overpopulation. If you increase legal quotas, workers unionize and eventually make $15/ hour instead of 10, but how is it ever enough if there are 10 kids at home who feel entitled to the world? And that holds true for the US as well... if you can't afford a pricy house, don't buy one because you like the interest rate on the loan. Can't afford a luxury car, don't lease one. Life is manageable when you follow these basic rules. Their host countries, including Mexico, are human rights abusers who are just as much to blame. No one cares when minorities are doing the human rights abusing. If you don't want to hold people accountable, that's fine, but it's hypocritical to make death threats online because of a zero tolerance immigration policy. Conservatives have a lot of policy issues that are short sighted and stupid, but this is a hand they have been forced to play.

Meh - I dunno. We could just end up with a whole bunch more poor, more street people and crime would skyrocket. They need to be discouraged. I don't know what the actual solution would be but one possible step in the right direction could be to show that it is not going to be the utopia the illegals seem to be under the impression it is. Limiting their travel plans would seem to be a must. They are looking for asylum? What cost for sanctuary towns along the border instead of an expensive wall? Just spitballing here.
