I agree with you that Biden (we can blame Mayorkas but Biden was the President) was not proactive enough until very late into his Presidency and that turned off voters, in both parties really. That does allow for political headlines and that is part of the game - but so is pointing out that most of the people being deported are not monsters.... most are women and children and hardworking people.
I'm favor of deportation of all illegal aliens, even the non-violent ones. Each peaceful, hard-working illegal alien that we deport will free up an American job for a US citizen.

Every hard working illegal alien that is doing sheetrock work, welding, carpentry, construction, plumbing, lawn maintenance, roofing... those are all jobs. And it's not fair practice for companies like Molly Maid to compete against illegal alien labor. To say that those jobs won't be freed up is nonsense, and I don't understand why that isn't evident and common sense to you. I didn't say anything about it making the economy better, did I? All jobs that no one want, will not be filled up, and businesses are not going to up their wages for. This is just stupid - RAISE the minimum wage to $25 where it should be and people will want them. But will the American consumer want to pay more for everything? We have gotten stuck trying to compete with China, and they have very low wages, we should not do that, just compete as Americans.....and give a fair working wage. Eliminate the minimum wage as well. The minimum wage is always zero, because if you are not worth the cost, you don't get the job. If we don't pay people to do nothing, they will want to work to get things like food and shelter. There is a global labor market (just like there are global markets for goods, land, commodities, etc.). The minimum wage is just a tariff on American labor. We should definitely get rid of tipping culture. Gig culture is just independent contracting.
where I live $20/hour is the de facto minimum wage for unskilled entry-level jobs, e.g., at McDonalds. That's just market forces at work.
