Because the German government is worse than Kamala would have been. And that's saying something. Germany would need a Milei/Bukele/Wilders/Trump hybrid. Instead, they will elect more of the same - and their own doom.
Because you said you "would not want to be a Muslim in Germany". At least 10 % of people living in Germany already are Muslims (official numbers are lower, around 6 %, but they are wrong). Your sentence implies that they are subject to some kind of discrimination or something, which is not what I see. If it were bad for them, why do so many decide to come to Germany?
I noticed what appeared to be racist behavior towards Muslims in Germany, but I am an outsider and it could be the guarded behavior and Germans avoiding Muslims could be because of the hostility right now. People stay or move to areas where they are not liked or wanted all the time. It is possible that being in Germany is better than being in Syria or Afghanistan, but that doesn't mean that it is acceptable to be racist against them. The opposite is true as well - Muslims that move to Germany should not be nasty or racist against native Germans. My larger point is that my experience in Germany was overall pleasant but the friction between Muslims and Germans is not being overblown or exaggerated and neither group really appeared to be at ease or happy with the situation.
I was in Hamburg the longest. My friend is an engineer and his company bought an engineering firm in Germany and that is where it is located. Also was in others - but 75% of the time was in Hamburg. Seemed like there were a number of Afghans and some Syrians as well.... also not sure where some were, but they were not very Westernized at all... but did not appear to be all Afghan. Clearly not Turk Muslims though.
As I said, 5 % of all Syrians live in Germany and 2 % of all Afghans. Add all kinds of other Arabs and who knows what. Most of them are subsidized by the 15 % of Germans who are net taxpayers (the other 85 % of Germans get more money from the state than they pay in taxes). Most of them do not integrate or assimilate at all. That's not true for all of them - one of my kid's daycare teachers was a Syrian man. I don't know his story, but he was friendly. It's always important to treat each individual with respect. But as a society, importing 5 % of people from a war-torn, under-educated country that has medieval beliefs, Islamist tendencies, high rate of inbreeding - it's just not a good idea. It doesn't work. As to Hamburg, it's nice in summer. But it rains a lot.
So you simultaneously say we should treat each people with respect but then go on to demonize a whole group.
@Salvy @rocketsjudoka So Turkey sending back the Syrian refugees I know woke D&D can’t tell the difference but they are different people and turkey can’t handle more refugees or want open borders
They brought back Stephen Miller, who made legal immigration a nightmare 8 years ago, in a larger role. Americans won't care or notice if they don't know anyone in the process cuz we're all out to get ours and react to the shiniest of distractions.
