Of course most everyone from the 3rd world is coming to the 1st world unvetted. Many "lose" or "forget" their identifying documents and even if they have any, most of these countries have barely functioning civil services. I find it hard to believe any type of real or thorough background check is possible. We often have no real idea about the identity, history or sympathies of these people. But we get some glib, "they were vetted" line - like, ok, what all does that entail exactly? How were they vetted? What type of information was found/confirmed during that process? Inquiring minds would like to know.
if you're going to claim they were vetted, you should have a definition of what vetting means, in this context.
From what I have heard first hand from people who came here as refugees is that it takes them an average of two years to get here. They are vetted through long interview processes and also investigations into people they know and associate with. This can be tied to other investigations through intel files.
You realize that the bipartisan bill endorsed by the Border Patrol that Trump prevented from being brought for a vote, provided for more vetting and quicker vetting of immigrants, right?
I will agree most of them have not gone through the same vetting procedure as refugees have. That said given that we're seeing crime rates drop I don't think they are the threat that many make them out to be. Also this is more reason why we should have an actual bill passed by Congress that addresses this through both more funding to help integrate those here and also beef up border security.
Also to add again that border crossings are dropping and only increased post COVID because the courts overturned title 42.
I'm asking for an explanation of the "vetting" I hear so much about. What actually takes place in this "vetting" process? Not just platitudes. Not interested in your orange man bad b****. Stay on topic or don't respond.
1. "Here" - I'm not just talking about the United States. 2. Refugee resettlement taking a long time doesn't necessarily indicate thorough vetting takes place. Length of time could be lots of things. 3. Saying they go through "long interviews" - vague - doesn't tell me much or indicate thorough vetting. 4. "Also investigations into people they know and associate with" - again, so vague, what the hell does that mean? 5. "This can be tied to other investigations through intel files" - sure, can be but there are millions of people seeking refuge in the West. How many of them have intelligence files with Western intelligence agencies. The reality is there is no way to actually thoroughly vet people from uncooperative third world countries which lack civil institutions. We often have no real idea about the identity, history or sympathies of these people. "We interview them" - Yea, they tell you what you want to hear. "We investigate people they know" - Ok, How? Also, people aren't stupid, they will just omit knowing people who might be problematic or the people they give as references are sympathetic to whatever they are trying to achieve and will lie for them... Former ISIS fighters are all over Europe. It's not hard at all to access Western countries. "Thorough vetting" - lmao. Right.
Kamala didn't let anyone in at the border. I assume you mean Joe Biden? Harris had nothing to do with who did and did not cross the border.
You mentioned vetting. I mentioned about vetting and more personnel to deal with it. There is a process for asylum seekers which most are but end up not qualifying. It depends on what on what process the immigrants are going for. It's different for student visa than green card. I think there are different types of work visas, etc.
I don’t know if you know any one who did other family did come here as a refugee. If you talk to them they are likely to tell you it is a very difficult process and long process. Its not a perfect process but given the millions of refugees who have resettled here and how a minuscule amount have actually been bad actors the system works well. Also as we all should know refugee immigration isn’t the only way to allow people in and we have tourists and business visas. The 911 terrorists didn’t come here as refugees but most came here under tourist visas. I don’t think anyone would consider shutting down tourists visas because of 911.
@AroundTheWorld @Salvy @CrixusTheUndefeatedGaul this dude is voting for Kamala Cause he’s not a citizen And wants to jihad
Vague claims that the process is "long" or "involved" doesn't actually tell me anything about the vetting process. I'm curious to know how Western countries are able to adequately vet people from countries without basic civil institutions or even relationships with the countries those people are coming from. I know that if the government wanted to thoroughly vet HTM or @rocketsjudoka they could find out a hell of a lot. There is an abundance of resources and ways to trace our lives. Birth certificate, social security number, drivers license, voter registration information, judicial records, criminal records, educational records, banking/financial records, employment records etc etc these records in conjunction to interviewing people from these stages of our lives could vet us pretty well. It would tell the government where lived, how long we lived there, our interests, our skills and training, our proclivity to violence, our religious affiliation potentially, who we associated with, what groups we associated with etc etc. I don't see how that same vetting, or anything close, is possible for Momar from Afghanistan/Syria/Libya who just washed up on the shores of Dover without a passport and without telling you their real name. Same thing with Hector from Venezuela or any number of other people showing up at our southern border if you want to keep the conversation domestic, though I wasn't.
I suspect vetting is a true b****. If anyone here has to check personal and work references, you know what I mean. This phone has a mailbox that has not yet been set up This phone has a mailbox that is full This phone is currently not in service. The person you are trying to reach is not accepting calls at this time.
I don't know about the USA, but Germany has basically done NO vetting whatsoever, by design. And this will lead to disaster. 5 % of Syrians and 1 % of Afghans live in Germany. Turns out, many of them aren't asylum seekers because they are victims of persecution, but they were actually the murderers in their own countries, and they are picking up the free money from Germany. And then many of them continue their Jihadist, criminal and murderous way in Germany. It's pure insanity.
Of course there's no "thorough vetting" going on with these people - it's impossible. The records or institutional knowledge simply doesn't exist. Germany also cannot deport them because Afghanistan/Syria aren't receptive to them being returned. Thing is a total mess and anyone trying to bullshit you into believing these people are "thoroughly vetted" are totally dishonest.
