Was doing an inspection at a construction site yesterday. It's a four story apartment building and on the 3rd story they are putting up the drywall. When I got to the 3rd story Tejano music was blasting and everyone there was speaking Spanish. Since I get frequently mistaken for Hispanic and speak a little Spanish some of them drywallers greeted me in Spanish.

On the second floor they are still putting in the insulation and most of the people working their weren't Hispanic and they were blasting Classic Rock.

Coincidentally working right outside was a crew from Xcel Energy installing underground lines. They were blasting Creed.

So, this thread has an American context, but also an international context. And you spam it with Twitter posts with the general idea that the England and other European countries are full of Islamic extremists who refuse to assimilate to European culture or at least respect the values of European culture. Since I'm completely ignorant of illegal immigration in the European context, I'm asking if the presence of these extremists in your community is a result of illegal immigration? How did this extremism develop in your community?

    Great post

    1. You have to have a license to get the title changed over when you buy a car, fly etc .. so I don't get what the issue is having an idea to vote.

DEI is bad for the country. I want the best pilots, Doctors etc... not some person who only got their job because of the color of their skin. When are we going to move past our past which was very racist. We won't be able to compete on the world stage without meritocracy.

All they need to do is bring back the Trump era policies and enforce the laws on the books. Ask yourself why they opened up the border to begin with? Also the government has proven that they're willing to do this to their own citizens, but they aren't willing to do the same thing to protect our country.

Both "legal" and illegal immigration. Hard to keep track. The extremism is imported. It did not "develop in your community". They just bring their beliefs with them, from the countries they came from.

My concern is less with whether their immigration was deemed "legal" by the leftist governments who brought them in.

My concern is with the hate and intolerance they bring with them - whether their immigration was "legal" on paper or not.

Again, compliance with the VRA was so bad that even the 5th circuit twice said, "okay, Texas, we get that you love vote security and we get that you say you're going to combat future vote fraud because currently, it's not impactful the way you argue it is, but your laws are oppressing minority votes in a way that violates national law."

I think we're talking past each other on DEI. There can be DEI factors in higher ed and government representation while maintaining the importance of merit. And there are good reasons to have certain DEI measures in those fields. I listed some.

Trump era Covid policies were ended by the Supreme Court. Your shooting people idea is flawed at best, from many aspects, and never a Trump thing.

    Your sincerity is consistently admirable.

:D I for one do appreciate it. But we do seem to have a lost cause on our hands, when debating with SPAM tweets, short video clips, etc. A 20th century versus 21st century sort of thing.

I wasn't going to answer, but your last paragrah made me.

Your first two points we can simply agree to disagree.

Your 3rd point, The govt has already done this to their own people, but they aren't doing this to illegals. This isn't my flawed idea, this is what our government has already done. WACO

Hmmmm. Sounds a lot like the right wing hate groups growing around the country. Hate and intolerance is such a toxic mindset.

A botched raid that lead to many deaths in a fire and shootout in the 1990s is not an immigration policy. What is your exact argument? Are you really saying Trump had an immigration policy that allowed DHS to set fire and shoot immigrants at the border who were surrendering? Or are you saying that's what the law should be? And you're saying I'm wrong by suggesting that the idea is problematic, and I'm wrong for saying it's not actually a law or policy? I just want to get to the root of the argument. We're on the same page with illegal immigration is bad. Only the extremists say it's good. But from there, i think you're falling off the deep end.

I'm not falling off of the deep end. The government has done these things to their own citizens. They could do this to ILLEGAL citizens.

His depends on how much you look at this invasion as a war on our country as to how drastic of measures need to be made to rectify this situation. Remember the fentenyl that they're snuggling across is killing millions of Americans.

You do realize that most of the people smuggling fentanyl across the border are American citizens don't you?

Fentanyl Is Smuggled for U.S. Citizens By U.S. Citizens, Not Asylum Seekers

Fentanyl is overwhelmingly smuggled by U.S. citizens almost entirely for U.S. citizen consumers.
    • During the travel restrictions, fentanyl seizures at ports quadrupled from fiscal year 2019 to 2021. Fentanyl went from a third of combined heroin and fentanyl seizures to over 90 percent.
    • Annual deaths from fentanyl nearly doubled from 2019 to 2021 after the government banned most travel (and asylum).
It is monstrous that tens of thousands of people are dying unnecessarily every year from fentanyl. But banning asylum and limiting travel backfired. Reducing deaths requires figuring out the cause, not jumping to blame a group that is not responsible. Instead of attacking immigrants, policymakers should focus on effective solutions that help people at risk of a fentanyl overdose.

The only appropriate response to the opioid epidemic is treatment of addiction. But for this to be possible, the government must adopt policies that facilitate treatment and reduce the harms from addiction—most importantly deaths. To develop these policies, policymakers need to ignore the calls to blame foreigners for our problems.

No I don't think Americans are going down to Mexico and smuggling drugs back across the border. I do know that gangs like MS 13 are smuggling drugs across the border and making billions, in addition to the human trafficking they're doing.

As far as Biden s border policy, all he had to do was go back and use Trump's border policies. But that's not what Obama wants to do to our country and make no mistake Obama is calling the shots behind the scenes.

Letting 25,000 ILLEGALS in a day, LMAO, how about letting zero a day across because they're breaking the law.

You seem to think you know more than experts, so no sense debating you with hard facts. No wonder you are a Trumper. Facts are silly. Lies are great. Believe the orange man.

    Nice deflection

This has nothing to do with Trump. Or the experts for that matter.

Truth is Trumps border policy worked, Biden's border policy or lack there of has been a disaster, unless you like open borders. Also you failed to give an opinion on whether MS-13 are smuggling drugs/people across the border, or explain if American are transporting illegals how they're doing it.

If I was debating your position I would probably have made a post similar to the post you made. It must be awful living in the everything Orange Man Bad does is bad world.

She gave you data; you simply ignored the data and came back with "No I don't think Americans are going down to Mexico and smuggling drugs back across the border".

    The link from her post:

Fentanyl Is Smuggled for U.S. Citizens By U.S. Citizens, Not Asylum Seekers | Cato at Liberty Blog
    Here are facts:
    • In 2021, U.S. citizens were 86.3 percent of convicted fentanyl drug traffickers—ten times greater than convictions of illegal immigrants for the same offense.
    • Over 90 percent of fentanyl seizures occur at legal crossing points or interior vehicle checkpoints, not on illegal migration routes, so U.S. citizens (who are subject to less scrutiny) when crossing legally are the best smugglers.

While the government has done those things, they haven't done it as part of policy.

Biden and bi-partisan members of congress had a bill to specifically put in greater scanning for fentanyl (in addition to all the other measures). Trump called congress members and asked that they stop the bill. Biden invited Trump and the other congress members to work with him on changing what they didn't like in order to get the bill passed. Nobody took him up on the offer.

Also even if we stopped all the fentanyl from coming in from the border, Fentanyl would still be killing the tens of thousands(not millions. It's just over 100,000 for all types of drug overdoses per year) each year.

I'm not trying to pile on or even really argue. I'm totally cool with agreeing to disagree. Again, we're on the same page with illegal immigration is bad. My position is that many American immigration laws are outdated and we need to Congress to change AND fund the laws. And immigration is complicated with push factors, pull factors, and international relations. That's the general summary of my position. And everyone has failed to different degrees.

Now, I just want to be clear with your positions:
    - Obama has been pulling the strings
    - Trump's policies stopped illegal immigration
    - We should shoot and burn all illegal immigrants because the feds did so in Waco to the Branch Dividians in the 90's, so it's obvious that they can do it again.
    Are these your positions?

I'm not calling you crazy, really I'm not. And there is actually truth in that Trump had more effective policies than Biden, but it's complicated. Many of Trump's policies are unconstitutional, and SCOTUS has said so. Additionally, international relations change. Other than that, I think you are making some logical leaps and your positions are very flawed, if I stated them correctly. We can agree to disagree. I just want to be clear about your positions.

    Survivorship bias - Wikipedia

This assumes that all fentanyl smuggling follows the patterns of fentanyl smuggling that is detected. The easiest detections are going to be total amateurs just trying to drive across the border and hoping they don't get caught. The hardest detections are going to be those using the best smuggling techniques in areas with less opposition.
