That bill wouldn’t have been a thought if Biden did something about the immigration situation. He’s too busy call his wife Joe and filling Zelenskyy’s pockets.
Good summary of the issues. The proposals (so far) involve a partial reversal of immigration laws, specifically those related to asylum—a term that many on the right often label as 'open borders,' unaware that it was passed in 1980 and has been a part of U.S. laws for decades. Implementing a hard cap is likely the most effective way to 'slow down' migrants crossing the southern border. However, it won't solve 'illegal' immigration, as, for years, the majority has resulted from visa overstays rather than border crossings. The hard cap would constitute a complete departure from the UN refugee and asylum definition, a move I believe we shouldn't make. A temporary pause is probably smart to allow resources to match the inflow. Our focus should be on finding ways to accept genuine asylum seekers while discerningly rejecting others much quicker (more funding needed). Tightening up visa overstays is important, and implementing a migrant worker program is a smart policy. I think we should also maintain special programs that allow the admin to admit groups from certain countries. If necessary, amend these programs to include Congressional override capabilities. Senate border security talks grind on as Trump invokes Nazi-era ‘blood’ rhetoric against immigrants https://apnews.com/article/border-s...senate-biden-cb8d4e3ad8271323cfd9294b527d6615 The senators and the White House appear to be focused on ways to limit the numbers of migrants who are eligible for asylum at the border, primarily by toughening the requirements to qualify for their cases to go forward. The talks have also focused removing some migrants who have already been living in the U.S. without full legal status, and on ways to temporarily close the U.S.-Mexico border to some crossings if they hit a certain metric, or threshold. Arrests of migrants have topped 10,000 on some days. There has also been discussion about limiting existing programs that have allowed groups of arrivals from certain countries to temporarily enter the U.S. while they await proceedings about their claims. Decades ago, those programs welcomed Vietnamese arrivals and others, and have since been opened to Ukrainians, Afghans and a group that includes Cubans, Nicaraguans, Venezuelans and Haitians.
#1 The government is not giving asylum seekers/immigrants $5,000 Visa cards. That is patently false. #2 The federal and local government does give them a cellphone - which has SmartLink on it, so that they can track the immigrants. It does not have the internet and does not allow unapproved phone calls.... and the program started under President Trump. This idiot has decided that he will just say whatever he wants, not back up what he says and hope enough people that want to believe - will believe it. He also believes that the 2020 election was stolen - he has parroted a lot of what Qanon has posted.
Interesting you acknowledge how horrific the action is even though you for some reason blame it on President Biden...
Gives you such a warm and fuzzy to see law enforcement completely lie and spout maga conspiracy garbage...
Sell the FEAR...........its just so odd that you have cops like this who act like a politician. It needs fixed, thats for sure, ask why congress hasnt done anything but dont lie to help your maga bro`s

I may have made this point before, but I think most Americans have less of a problem with visa overstays due to a combination of less racial overtones and the idea that at least those granted a visa have some money or family ties. So it's a racial and poverty thing. Asylum seekers (the vast majority who don't qualify) are just the dirt poor of the dirt poor countries of Latin America.
Ironically many of those who are visa overstays are also working illegally. Apparently many Americans are ok with an Irish illegal serving fish and chips than a Central American cooking and cleaning the plates.
