Since the biggest group is now Venezuelans, ow about letting them export as much oil as they want. How about quit trying to destroy their economy. Hey you could even send emergency financial aid. Might be cheaper though not as valuable to the Repugs as immigration as an issue in 2024.

Estimated as many as 1,000.000 will come through the Darrien next year.

The Mongols were the most powerful military in the world at the time. The border wall wouldn't be to stop the US Armed Forces from crossing, it would be to stop unarmed people with no intention of fighting.

Either u have soldiers shoot to kill like the Berlin wall, north/south korean border or any talk to securing the border is just political sound bites.

Building a wall like trump was pointless and theatrics. Walls do not deter the most desperate, guns do.

Personally I think the homeless problem in our country is a bigger threat than illegal immigrants but it doesn't matter since both problems will b left unsolved by the government anytime soon regardless of whose in charge

Yes, you actually have to monitor it, crazy. Just like every other defensive fortification in the history of man.

Plenty of that 2000 miles I’m sure are remote and rugged enough where a wall doesn’t make a lot of sense.

Not sure I agree with your assessment regarding how intensive such a barrier needs to be. In areas near population centers or areas easier to access it will require more resources but the further out you get and the more remote you get, resources should commiseratively drop. The idea isn’t to lock down every inch of the border but the more difficult you make it, the less illegal entries you’ll get.

That is why we already have 654 miles of wall. It’s been deployed where you get the most bang for your buck. Now lets do some more.

Correct on the deportation issue. Interesting. Does this mean that we have a deal to stop actively sabotaging their economy. Could Biden and the Dems actually be learning something? The Repugs of course desire as much of an immigration mess as possible until Nov 2024 and for that matter after unless "wokeness", school textbooks, transgender athletes, vaccines etc can carry the water for them.

Folks hire security guards and then don't empower them to stop thieves. Even having a security guard can reduce theft, but having one empowered to stop thieves is better. Having a guarded barrier is the best way to stop someone from crossing a line, that's why they have them in prisons.

Biden has already begun the process of removing sanctions on Venezuela. I agree with you 1000% the sanctions have a huge role in the state of Venezuela

The Great Wall wasn’t even built to keep out small groups of unarmed people but a large armed force. Small groups frequently crossed the Great Wall.

It’s actually harder to prevent smaller groups from crossing because you need more manpower to provide surveillance along most of the wall rather than a large army that could easily be spotted.

This isn’t defending a city or a keep where you might at most have a few miles of wall around an enclosed space. This is covering thousands of miles through mountains and deserts.

Further Chinese dynasties didn’t count on the Great Wall. They relied very heavily on diplomacy with buying off various Mongolian tribes to keep them divided.

Also to add there are major engineering issues with building a 2000 mile border wall. We saw it already with sections of Wall built by Trump collapsing even before his term was over.

The Great Wall was built over 100’s of years at the staggering cost even in ancient times. Even in its heyday most of the wall didn’t look like what you see now in tourist areas near Beijing. Most of it was rammed earth topped with wooden posts. Through a lot of its history vast sections were in disrepair and couldn’t be maintained.

For us now to put in the billions needed to build, man and maintain a thousand mile border wall
Is throwing good money at bad.

I do find it interesting how people who say they are for chaos in government and love gridlock getting upset that the government isn't able to do more about illegal immigration.
