Seems there is a pretty big distance between "self-righteous" and "sanctimonious" and the belief that people should be treated better than children being pushed back into the river or withholding water from asylum seekers in 100+ degree weather. But I guess politics...
Regardless of their status, they are people. That said, I quoted the article, that quoted a DPS Officer. Here's another reporting, not behind a firewall... https://theweek.com/immigration/102...n-razor-wire-pushes-kids-back-into-rio-grande
Your opinion doesn't make me self-righteous, just because you believe all immigrants aren't willing to work hard for a living. There are plenty of lazy ass Americans who would rather live off welfare than do the jobs many of those asylum seeking immigrants are willing to do. Just because you believe denying them water or shoving them back in the river is cool, doesn't make me self-righteous if I disagree. I know one thing. I'd much rather my tax dollars weren't spent on Texas Politicians who did their best to spread the Big Lie, and try to reverse the votes by fraudulous intent, or peddle guns like candy in schools.
Of course these migrants are people. They should be given water or emergency medical services if they need those things. If Greg Abbott or a DPS officer said they shouldn't be given water, they should be chastised but we haven't seen the email, the language or the context. I imagine the vast, vast majority of law enforcement officers who work on the border render humanitarian aid every day. They should also be prevented from illegally entering the United States in the first place and physical barriers is a perfectly acceptable way to do that.
Why stop there? Lets not just put barned wire, but mines. After all, they are not supposed to be trying to cross the water. Or alligators and piranhas. F them illegals. They shouldn't be tryng to come here.
My local utility district has razor wire on its fence. I suspect it's meant to both deter trespassing and prevent trespassing. You're not suppose to go in there. I don't see why a border shouldn't have a physical barrier. You're not suppose to cross it without permission. But to your last point, correct, they are not suppose be illegally entering the borders of the United States, just as I don't illegally enter the borders of other countries. That's not really a controversial notion. Or at least amongst the rational. Every country in the world has borders and some form of border enforcement.
Our border should be secure and it has a relatively unique place in the world with one of the wealthiest countries in the world sharing a massive border with a much poorer country and several even poorer countries below that. Wherever you see those economic fault lines there are big problems. Turkey/Greece.... Libya/Italy......... Spain/Morocco. But we don't even have a significant natural barrier like the Mediterranean ocean to discourage attempts at illegal immigration.
We're not discussing whether border enforcement is good or required. There are many ways to enforce the border... including increased patrols, use of technology, enforcement of hiring laws, and working with the other countries to reduce the interest in coming to this country. Instead we are discussing, and apparently you have no problem with, deploying border enforcement that treat people inhumanely. Pushing people back into the water, using spikes and barbered wire, and withholding water from people in triple digit temperatures is inhumane, and indefensible. But you stick to your political views.
Ah, yes, strawmen some things I never said and ignore things I directly and clearly stated. Most typical thing on the D&D. So dishonest.
The article and discussion you commented was on barbed wire and spikes put on floating barriers, and border enforcement patrols pushing children back into the river, while also denying water to detailed people (as reported by a border enforcement at the scene). Instead of objecting to the actions reported, you instead went on a rant about posters objecting were "self-righteous" and "sanctimonious". Did I ignore anything you "clearly stated"? Did I somehow miss you objecting to what was being reported?
It's fudging 2000 degrees out there. I mentioned they wouldn't show up for court and what do you know, they aren't showing up for court.
Man you can't be seriously this brainwashed are you. What is wrong with you? You don't think the Biden rules that throw these migrants in prison for entering without an appointment is deterring them but the weather is? Man you people have your damn brains broken. Brain rot. The Biden immigration rules are more strict than trumps ever was. These are facts. Stop spinning braindead conspiracies good god
