As far as stopping the immigrants, many of the new immigrants are from Cuba, and Venezuela countries in which we have set out deliberately to ruin their economies. Others like Guatemala, Nicaragua and Honduras-- as was done in the Obama Admin and therefore not in the so distant past) we supported the oligarch and coups when reformers wanted to spread some of the wealth around.

Go to the home depot on 610 and Shephard where large grounds of migrants stand outside daily for day work. It's literally all white folks in trucks who pick them up throughout the day. I even saw a few with MAGA flags pick up 8-10. It's just funny how full of **** conservatives are in real life

Not word of praise from nutters like De Santis and Abbot for the literally armies of Latino construction workers from all over who rebuilt Galveston, New Orleans and Florida will be in trouble and will look away when it comes to rebuild from their next climate disaster.

The US economy and especially the TX economy relies upon immigrant, both legal and not, labor. My guess is the FL economy does too and even the Mn economy does as the agriculture and meat packing sectors rely on migrant labor.

Yes but that doesn't mean we allow undocumented people without knowing who they are. The new system biden has put in place is transformational. We now have migrant processing centers in Colombia, Honduras, and Mexico. Instead of rushing to the border folks can apply at these centers and find out if they qualify or not. It's a smart system which is obviously working. We're processing 30k a month legally which is still healthy increase.

That’s an increase but our immigration laws are still too out of whack of both the actually supply of immigrants and the demand of US businesses for labor.

As long as that exists there will always be a black market for immigration.

What do you propose is the perfect number? Where are you getting this number from?

Feels like it's a moving number based on labor supply.

It's real simple but politically untenable but:

border security + immigration reform + Reagan style amnesty

Glad to see this! 99.9% of the immigrants just want a better life...............not gonna stereotype people but I have a feeling in this part of the country the immigrants are willing to do jobs that the average American really doesn't want to do.

Sorry I missed this earlier. I don't have a perfect number but our current number is too low given we both have a lot of people clamoring to get in (supply) and still problems filling job openings particularly in manual labor and service industries (demand). Off the top of my head I believe we could double the amount of people we admit anually and have a guest worker program without too much trouble.

I'm not surprised. I was on Cape Cod last summer and there is a worker shortage there during the summer and as such costs for services were high along with many businesses running on reduced hours.

This is what I mean though if there was more immigration including a guest worker program we could possibly fill more of those positions.

I know of at least one business in Ron DeSantis' state that has hired a lot of immigrant, including illegal, labor. Maybe he should raid this business and send the migrants there to the Vineyard.

Mar-A-Lago Sought 380 Foreign Workers During Time Trump Had Access To Classified Documents
"Mar-a-Lago relies on foreign nationals to work as servers, cooks and housekeepers. In 2016, the club sought 65 foreign workers. The figure has increased every year since, with the exception of 2020, when the club shut down in the early days of the pandemic and furloughed more than 150 employees. Last winter, Mar-a-Lago sought out 91 foreign workers, according to records filed with the Department of Labor."

It's not inhumane when you think of them as rabid illegals and vicious animals, instead of families and children simply wanting to live and work without fear of cartels and violence around them.

    So self-righteous.

If you're so concerned, you can devote your life to feeding, housing and paying for the medical expenses for these folks.

But, like usual, people just sit behind a computer screen, act sanctimonious and don't actually do a damn thing for anyone else.
