You're crazy. I don't know how you can call someone overrated if you have never really listened to him. Give him a chance - hell, you might like it, Mikey (reference Life Cereal ad). Ahhh I suppose. Where do I start with Dylan? And, you said Floyd's best CD was Animals followed by....
Bracket A: 1) Elvis Presley 2) Bob Marley Bracket B: 1) Bob Dylan 3) John Lennon Bracket C: 1) Jimi Hendrix 6) Buddy Holly Bracket D: 4) David Bowie 2) Neil Young
One more thing. I thought this would be a sleeper round for Mr. Marley. There is no way Mr. Wonder beats him. And it truely pains me that so many of my favorite posters have neglected to vote for Bob even once. When did the Bob hate start?
Dylan's albums to get for a beginner, IMO, would be "Blonde on Blonde" and "Highway 61 Revisited". If you like those 2, then you will like pretty much anything he did. The problem that most have with Dylan is his singing voice but I have never found that to be a problem. Granted he ain't ever going to be an opera singer, but if I want to listen to something like that, I'll get a Pavarotti, Enrico Caruso, etc. CD. The thing I like about Dylan is not really his lyrics but just the way his whole sound is, especially the songs in which he blows his harp. As for Floyd, "Dark Side of the Moon" should be the first Floyd album any newbie to them should buy followed by "Wish You Were Here". I would get "The Wall" only after "Animals". So, Manny's order of buying Floyd CDs: 1) Dark Side of the Moon 2) Wish You Were Here 3) Animals 4) The Wall 5) Meddle Manny's FAVORITE Floyd CDs: 1) Animals 2) The Wall 3) Dark Side of the Moon 4) Wish You Were Here 5) TIE between Meddle and The Final Cut
I have to admit that I'm quite disappointed that Sheryl Crow made the tourney but not Billy Joel. Billy Joel may be my favorite Solo artist ever.
I agree. That dude sounds like a cat getting run over by a car. Also, I'm a John Lennon fan but his solo career pales in comparison to Elton John. Elton John has been putting out hits for 30+ years. Hell maybe even 40. If you include Lennon's stuff with the Beattles then ok, but just solo career, I dont think so.
