It's true. I know this guy who started using wind power. Wind power has an invisible side effect, known as gaydiation. It was a gateway to solar power, and pretty soon, he was injecting marijuanas. Somewhere along the way, he became gay and a communist and started listening to NPR and eating salads and pronouncing foreign words correctly and watching soccer.

Just say no to gaydiation and wind power.

"California's San Bernardino County slams the brakes on big solar projects" . . . that would be a big, fat NIMBY on solar:

California's largest county has banned the construction of large solar and wind farms on more than 1 million acres of private land, bending to the will of residents who say they don’t want renewable energy projects industrializing their rural desert communities northeast of Los Angeles.

Thursday’s 4-1 vote by San Bernardino County’s Board of Supervisors highlighted a challenge California could face as it seeks to eliminate the burning of planet-warming fossil fuels.

State lawmakers passed a bill last year requiring utility companies to get 60% of their electricity from renewable sources by 2030, and 100% from climate-friendly sources by 2045. But achieving those goals will require cooperation from local governments — and big solar and wind farms, like many infrastructure projects, are often unpopular at the local level.

Representatives of national solar developers including First Solar and Clearway Energy urged the supervisors to consider the economic benefits of solar projects, including jobs and tax revenues. They were joined by union members, who told the supervisors that solar farms create hundreds of high-paying construction jobs.

At least in the next couple decades solar and wind will have to augmented with either nuclear or natural gas. Nuclear is cleaner but the political hurdles are prohibitive.

Not sure about political hurdle, but I heard there are spirited debates among the left on if nuclear makes sense for combating global warming. Haven't read too much into it.

    Cost has been an issue.

No, the issue is electric and oil gas companies preventing the new technology You need to read up on that Nikolas Tesla discovery of alternating current vs direct current.

You'll see some state bills this year to create zero emission credits to shovel some extra money into nuke shareholders' pockets. It won't create a new boom of construction or anything, but you won't see many nukes shutter in the next decade.

    That's not happening.

I remember learning in school a nuclear plant cost 5X as much to build as a coal plant. So from a pragmatic position that’s something to consider.

It’s already being augmented with natural gas, especially in Texas.

As I said before, what was the point of making Rex Tillerson your secretary of state when you were going to take this dumbass coal position?

The US missed a huge opportunity to push natural gas over coal at the Paris Climate Accord.
