Okay, this is interesting, in his Feb 2 entry, according to sohu's Chinese translation, in this sentence,

Scola mentioned that he won't change his way in speaking his language (guys please correct me if I am wrong).

clos4life and Elpigto did mentioned that his Spanish was not that clear in this thread. Maybe Scola visited this board too and he was referring to you two! :D

Is he speaking colloquial Argentinian Spanish or something? Just curious.

Oh crap, this is so embarassing. It was the second last paragraph of the translated script and I thought the translator would translate Scola's article piece by piece. Thanks for the clarification, Rodrick_98, here is the original article:

I will take a crack at them...

    Title: My Chinese Blog
    Date: 2007-11-22

    linky dinky

Note: Luis likes to put periods where they don't belong so I will try to not include them when they broke the sentence structure.

Hello my Chinese friends from Sohu.

This Chinese blog is a new experience for me. It's my first time so I hope that all goes well and that everyone likes it.

Well as all of you know being in the NBA will be a new lifestyle for me. Playing next to impressive players. Like Yao, TMAC and others from Houston. The games that we have been playing now have been difficult. Some with good results and others not so good. I am adapting to these changes.

Its just a matter of keep working so that I can reach a good level of play that everyone would like to see.

    That's all for now,

    Luis

Note: Now Luis is not using commas as periods. I will edit that in my translation where necessary.

I am quite happy with the attention that I have been getting by using this medium (blog). The truth is that I don't have much to say now that we have suffered losses in games that we should have won. Its pretty strange the feeling that one gets when you put out a lot of effort and the result is not what you would have expected.

We all pretend to play well and win well. All that is left is to keep working. What's left of the season is quite long, and you will be sure that everyone will see, our team will get better with time ...

    That's all for now,

    Luis

Well the game against the Raptors, which I am sure that you all watch like you always have been, is a game where we didn't play well. We lost in a game where each one of us plays their own game, and as you know nobody likes to talk about a defeat. In my case also. We only have to put more effort into the games that follow.

On the other side, I see players like Carlos Delfino (my compatriot) helps his team quite a lot. I hope that I can do the same with my team.

Hello to all again. We are on our way to Memphis. Preparing for the game. As you know TMAC is out because of injuries.

So we are going to see how we can play without him. I believe that the team's slump is in the past.

I must keep working so that I can earn more minutes. I believe that if I can get my rhythm I could give the team more of what I can do. You don't believe?

(From here?) I wish you a happy and magnificent 2008.

It looks like we started 2008 well. No? :) With a winning streak .. I hope that we will continue this winning streak.

Yesterday against NE ..the play was intense in each quarter. Although I think that I am getting used to this. With the great task that we all have, especially Yao, we have all fulfilled a good game. And now we will continue waiting for Tmac to return to our team.

I hope to be coming here more often. So that I can answer your questions. With the help of my Sohu friends. Obviously.

Hi. I´m from Argentina. I just want to tell you that this blog looks fake
The way it is written is just...wrong. Luis speaks correctly but writes like this?I´m not talking about typos here. I´m talking about ugly spanish.

Sorry. It´s just my opinion. :)

I agree that Scola speaks eloquently, I can speak eloquently as well but that does not take away from the fact that I send some emails really fast b/c I don't want to spend a lot of time with it. Perhaps the same can be said about Scola writing a blog for SOHU. Nonetheless, I do know people who can speak with candor but then do not know how to write as well.

I know people who can´t write too. But this case is different.
The way that spanish is written looks like a google translation from another language.
My opinion is that the blog is written by a random chinese guy who knows some spanish.

Title: A review of the questions...
    Date: 2008-1-20

    linky dinky

Hello all... tough week for us, the truth is that I knew that New Orleans was going to be tough, but I thought that we were going to win in Philadelphia. The truth is that they were two tough losses, we will have to react, and what a best chance against the defending champs...

The last time that I wrote in this blog, I posted pictures of my two sons, the oldest is named Tiago (2 years old) and the smallest is Tomas (9 months old), evidently as every father, my kids have changed my life, but don't be fooled, although they look like angels, both are terrible devils!!! hahaha

According to the page creators have told me, there are many questions. So I would like to answer some of the questions that you may have sent ... For example, many of you ask how do you see Manu and the Spurs, I see them doing fine, they always look as if they are not strong, but every year they are in the top of the league, the consistency they have is admirable...

Other have asked me if I believed if we were going to make the playoffs, and I think honestly that yes, it will not be easy, the west is very tough, but I believe too much in this team, there is a lot of talent and we are gelling, soon we will be moving up in the rankings...

The last question that I will answer today, has been a common one these last days, Does the team play better with or without Tracy, I believe that people are to unjust, yeah its true that we have raised the level of play in the last few games, but it doesn't mean because he didn't play, Tracy is a super star and we will always want to play with him, and now that he will be active soon we will improve a lot...

Well, that is all for today, a greeting to you all,

    Luis

    Were improving

Hello all! Hope that you all are doing well, let me tell you that I was supposed to update the blog a few days ago but it was just after the Utah game, and I thought to myself that I always wrote after a team loss. So I told myself that I will hold on until a few more days, when we play Golden State, and then I will write. The risk I took was that if we lost again, it was going to be harder to write, oh well, we won and we are quite happy. It was an important match up for us, against a rival that we are competing against for a playoff spot and at home after a loss. To make it worst before the game, we found out that Tracy was not going to play, so more difficult yet, but we all had a serious game in general, and Yao in particular who played like an authentic MVP. If he plays like that we can beat anyone. Today when compared to other games, the called lots of fouls at the end of the game that they normally would not have called. All teams try to play very physical (I don't blame them, its the only way to stop them) and with a lot of fouls and many of those the refs do not blow the whistle. Today they were a little more fair in that aspect and it helped us that it was that way.

Another subject that people ask me about recently is regarding my starting role. When I was a backup, I always said that its not important to play as a starter, the important part is to help the team the most that you can when you are out there in the court, whether its the first quarter or the last quarter. The game is long and there will be opportunities for all. Well, now that I am a starter I will not change my story, I feel the same way as before. The season is long, a we need that all players be ready and prepared to come into the game when the coach calls upon us, if not it will be difficult to get something.

Well that will be all for today, I will return with you all in a few days, I hope that it will be after a win like today !!!

Happy Chinese New Year to all !

    Luis

    Happy New Year:

Hello to all, like the title says, today what is the most important thing is that everybody should have a happy new year. This is the year of the rat, so I hope that it brings luck to you all. This whole week I was memorizing how to say happy new year in Chinese. But by the time I got to the computer I forgot, so sorry, but I will at least put it in Spanish...

With respect to the team, this has another color, things are getting better, we understand each other better, play as a team, and we are closing the games much better. Logically, because we were a lot of new players, and the coaching staff was new, we knew it was going to take some time...

Anyhow, a lot is left so that we can do something out of it, we haven't even reached 50 games, we still have a little left still...oh well, its better to be 29-20 vs 20-29, right?

Now we have three local games, which we will have to be tough and win all three, it will be nice for us, so that we can into the All-star vacation with a positive vibe. After the festivities, the calender get tougher.

Speaking of the All-Star, I will be playing in the rookies game. I am happy that I will partake in the festivities. In addition, I will be able to have the opportunity to be in the same team with someone you know, Yi!!

I imagine that many of you have seen the match up between Milwaukee vs. Houston. I know that the game had a great impact in China. The truth is that here in the USA it did not have a lot of importance, but for us, the Rockets, the match up was important. We needed to win. Neither Yao or Yi had a great game but you can see the tremendous potential that they have. To be honest with you, half way through the game I thought about the Olympic games, and how difficult it will be to win it this year. Oh well, for that we will have time later on...

Finally, I say bye for today, next time I will discuss my experiences at the All-Star game...

    Big Greetings,

    Luis
