i know its wrong buy i always ask ppl, what kind of coke do you want?

I was reading in my economics book that there was a time (dont know if they still do it) that representatives of the coca cola company would go around to retaurants and ask for cokes and if they got something else, like say pepsi, they would fine that restaurant. if they came to houston they'd have a field day giving fines.

    Q-Tip

    Rollerblade

The British call vacuum cleaners "hoovers". I didn't realize it was a brand until I was like six.

So you're saying that soft drinks (I mean cokes) serve different functions? I thought the basic function was to quench thirst...

    Let's not get into semantics...

There is no inherent difference between a Kleenex and a tissue, a Band-Aid and a bandage, etc...If you asked for a Kleenex and got another brand of tissue you wouldn't care.

There is an obvious difference between a Coke and other soft drinks. It just doesn't make sense to ask for a Coke if you really want a different type of pop. Like fadeaway pointed out, it's as goofy as calling all hamburger's McDonald's.
