FDR extended the economic crisis. Socialists don't actually want progress. They want people reliant on the govt dime and thus more power and control to implement communism. You should really make an effort to see past sweet talk from politicians.

FDR absolutely did not extend the economic crisis. The Great Depression started improving and when the programs FDR put into place were reduced, it actually got worse.

There was one of those fad movements a decade or so ago to try and claim that FDR's programs made it worse. There were a few books written about it, even. But that movement was hardly a consequential one and most of those ideas have been bounced on their head and thrown out to the trash heap where they belong.

Talk about waiting for sweet talk from politicians. You may still be trusting in more tax breaks for the wealthy to trickle down, but America is moving on.

There are elements of socialism in the Nordic countries. Those are indeed socialism. Most of Europe is heavily socialism. No nation is 100% socialism. No nation is 100% capitalism.

Why do people just beat up strawmen about desiring pure economic systems.

Seriously, what prominent American politicians wants to literally eliminate the free market and make everything social cooperatives?

No, the Nordic countries and all of the developed world has a mix economy. why can't we have an honest discussion. Everyone knows exactly what American politicians mean when they refer democratic socialism... Single payer public health insurance. Now is every country that has a single payer health care system as devastated as Venezuela?

So you just like giving your money to billionaires because of what?

You think there is a free lunch, roads, airports, schools, the military? won't be able to start endless wars all over. The billionaires have convinced you that taxes on them going to school lunches is theft -- a crime and a moral abomination? School lunches go to undeserving black folks? Yankees and educated liberals believe in school lunches for poor kids so you don't.

Honestly your statement about not feeling entitled to trickle down was pretty incoherent. It's as if you have no understanding of the promises that politicians give when they advocate for reducing the tax burden of the "job creators".

As a moderate, who dislikes Trump, the only thing that will get me to vote in 2020 for Trump would be if a socialist runs for the democratic party.

Which definition of socialism are you using? At this point when someone uses that term, I have no ****ing clue what they are referring to as that word has hundreds of different meanings now.

I don't need any promises. I believe their should be a certain limit on what the government takes from you at the point of a gun. Everyone has an opinion about what amount of taxation is justifiable ranging from 0% - 100%.

If anything, it's the other way around, at least in this country.

It's modern-day conservatives that try to apply the free market to EVERYTHING and believe that it's a cure all. I mean, we have several Republicans actually trying their damndest to apply free market economics to education completely. They have been trying to privatize education for years now. Just look at the posters here that are right-wing, they will give no concession to more socialist policies. None. They are all bad to them and they all lead to Venezuela in their mind. They are willing to take this trickle-down economy to its purest form. From destroying worker unions whenever they get a chance to, to continuing to destroy regulations. Conservatives in America have been working towards this goal for decades now.

The so-called 'socialists' actually do believe in the free market and are willing to compromise with it.

No coherence? Not really. You have to learn to connect the dots, not just repeat talking points. I am honestly trying to figure out why folks like you like tax breaks for billionaires.

Still no answer on why you like tax cuts for billionaires, but use public roads and services.

This isn't a coherent question or thought:

"You think there is a free lunch, roads, airports, schools, the military? won't be able to start endless wars all over."

I think everyone agrees taxes are necessary for the common cause. It is a matter of degree that folks disagree about. I don't think the Federal government is a good or competent steward of the 4 trillion it brings in already.
