Yeah, Mexico! Fun game to watch... Although I have to admit, we got a lot of calls.

Mexico deserved to win, they outplayed us for the most part.

However, the officiating was atrocious (not an excuse) but cards needed to be handed out and weren't and there was one horrendous offsides call in the second half. Again, that's part of homefield advantage and we shouldn't get hung up on that.

Maybe it's just cuz I root for the US so I'm admittedly bias, but unless you are from Mexico I don't understand how you can root for that time. They're dirty, classless, and cheap. That's what makes them a great rival, but as I watched that game I just got continually more and more pissed off, and it had nothing to do with the score. What happened to winning with some dignity?

I'm proud of our boys for going into one of the toughest places to play in the world and competing while managing to not throw any punches. I was suprised a full scale brawl didn't break out. Anybody see Landon getting drilled with garbage from the fans taking that last corner? You stay classy, Mexico City.

But hey, it's a great rivalry--people are supposed get worked up. This one did the job.

Mexico deserved to win today, I think. However, there were a number of questionable calls that could have helped the US escape with a point.

    - The first Mexico golaso was the result of a missed foul call after Donovan got fouled twice. Still, that was a nasty goal.

    - Charlie Davies was not offsides when he was 1 v. 1 with Ochoa.

    - Torrado should have seen red for his WWE impersonation (as well as many missed potential yellows for Mexico).

As I said before, I think the result was just given Mexico's huge advantage in possession. I just think that with a ref who wasn't out of his league the US may have been able to escape with what may have been an undeserved tie.

This game was lost once Bradley had the squad pack it in after the first goal. With a team like Mexico who desperately needs the win, if you stun them early, you need to try to get that backbreaking second goal. We didn't and paid the price.

I have nothing nice to say about the refs, CONCACAF, mexico, their fans, or their players. So, on the advice of my mother, I will say nothing more.

After the first goal I jokingly told the people I was watching the game with that it was time to bunker for the next 80 minutes, unfortunately Bradley wasn't joking when he said it. We had a few moments of decent play in the second half, but we got outplayed and would have been lucky to get a draw. I was kind of surprised Holden got some decent play time and did pretty well, his cross that Davies barely missed was amazing.

    Ha ha... +1

We were definitely outplayed, but the calls were more than questionable. It was to be expected, but good god. We would have gotten red carded for some of the things they got away with.

i was actually rooting for mexico even though i have no strong ties to either country's teams, but after watching this game, i hate a strong dislike for the mexican soccer scene.

the mexican players acted like it was some street game in their backyard. they acted like thugs/bullies and petulant children at the same time. it was pathetic to watch grown men act this way. extremely unprofessional and unsportsmanlike.

the ref had A LOT to do with this game, due to his fear of the crowd. he was probably pissing in his pants that if mexico got any bad calls that costs them this game, that he was going to get murdered. when all the calls go one way, it changes the way the game is played. i was sorely disappointed that a fifa official called an important qualifier in this way.

and the fans... i mean, wtf? why are security/cops even there? i'm actually surprised that some fan didn't throw rocks at the US players.. there was reports than fans threw up into their cups or pissed into them, and threw them at donovan when he was taking corners. are you kidding me? yes they were only a few bad seeds that drank a few too many, but the fact is that those fans probably faced zero consequences for what they did. absolutely atrocious.

you nads fans never cease to amaze me. i've read more about the refs than the players.

nads fans fail to mention... dos santos was even less offside than davies was. davies first goal was a mexico offside trap that was very very close. no one mentions altidore trying to get in magallon's face after a foul, which magallon walked away from. no mention of gooch's bad 2nd half takle that every mexican knew was a 2nd yellow. aguire was going crazy when the ref didn't take out the yellow.

who do you think is going to get the most calls, the team with 80% possesion or the team with 20%? 'cmon nads fans. it's just like basketball, we've had so many threads about the team that is aggressive and drives to the hole gets the calls. refs will miss some, it's part of every sport. but no call or no call in this match had major major game implications, ie. no penalities were called or players ejected. missed offside calls are part of the game, watch a few games any weekend you'll see so many.

not only that but the american announcers were raving about how the best ref was selected. how that panamanian ref had done 4 previous nads games and no nad player had even received a yellow. maybe you should twitter cooch to not use his hands to break up a play or tell charles blackmouth to stay away from slide tackles from behind at the mid line.

this is very typical game of two big rivalries in the world. i would say most of the antics were typical of this type of game considering mexico's dire need a of a win. they were very sensitive to any time wasting while the game was still tied. really only 1 player (ala artest) was a little crazy out there and that was nery. he was loco about the time wasting. i think he needs a break from the national team until he drops those antics. but that's one player not an entire classless team and country. and there was 114,000 people in the stadium, not all threw items on the field.

Mexican fans threw rocks at the US players as they got off the bus to go into Azteca.

First, cut it with this nads crap and leave that on BigSoccer. Second, your assertion here is just plain false. Dos Santos' entire body was offside. Every replay angle clearly shows it. You have no ground to stand on.

You guys got calls BEFORE the possession advantage and it just continued. Also, how are you supposed to keep advantage when you're getting fouled with the ball and the other team suffers no consequences? Also, it's a crime that Torrado failed to see red after going after Feilhaber's throat.

The problem is that the Americans saw yellow for everything and the Mexicans could kill without even getting a foul call. You had guys running at players after getting fouled, trying to rip the ball out of someone's hand when it wasn't even YOUR freekick, trying to further injure a player who was legitimately injured and not faking like your team did all day. Let an American do that and see if we finished that game with 11.

The entire team engaged in antics that would disgust me if it were the US team. Dos Santos is a beast but he falls any time he gets stripped of the ball. It's horrendous. Your entire team was complaining about "time wasting" until the MINUTE you scored and then all of a sudden it was alright as you guys showed you had no problem doing it yourselves. As I said before, losing sucks and you guys had the possession and deserved the win with our poor game plan. I just don't know how anyone who roots for the Mexican National Team can be proud of the way your players played. It's a disgrace.

As far as it being only a few fans, talk to the American fans who went to the game and see if it was only a few fans. It happens EVERYWHERE Mexico plays including here in the US. If it happens frequently you can no longer use the "it's a few bad apples" line because it isn't. That is the makeup of your fanbase and there is no excuse for it.

    Please pay up, sir.

Clutch, he lost and now has to pay $20. Please make sure plcmts17 pays his end of the bargain and report in this thread, if you think it's necessary. Also, this SHOULD NOT bring him up to contributing member status, as it is NOT a donation, it's a gambling loss.

:D iapaman, you said all that BEFORE I could say it. There's no use trying to talk to the U.S. fans about being sore losers. :D Just let them talk, man. I tried to stay away, but I knew there wouldn't be any talk about how sorry their football is just "not trying to lose" attitude that gets them NOTHING.

I will stay as fair as I can for these points here, U.S. fans:
    1. You guys didn't have a "B" team.
    2. This was no "insignificant cup" game.
    3. Your longest streak of continuous passes for possession was probably 10. On average, it was about three to four, or kicking it out of bounds. Why couldn't you keep it longer than that?
    4. Your early score was a result of poor defense, but also merciless strike by Davies. I've said it all along, this kid should have been starting WAY before the Confederations Cup. Why wasn't he there during the other qualifiers?
    5. You knew that going into the Lion's Den, you wouldn't get many calls. So the Mexican defenders punished you for hogging the ball. You touch and go, get rid of it quickly, or you will get punished for it. Why not touch and go?
    6. All football fans know that keeping your entire team playing "not to lose" equals not getting respect on obvious calls. So WHAT if the refs were bought, do you cross your arms? You show on the pitch who is better. You do not let the refs dictate the game.
    7. So the Mexican players at Azteca are classless? I know it's wrong. I know it's old. Same story. So? Aren't your players used to it by now and now how to focus on winning the game?
    8. It seemed like every restart from goal or your end of the field ended up in Mexico's possession. When will your goalies and defenders learn not to kick it far instead of starting play from the defense?
    9. The only-counterattacking formula only against Mexico is getting old. Please at least TRY TO SCORE or make a game out of it next time. This is BORING football.
    10. Donovan was like a UFO... only showed up once (pass to Davies) and was not to be seen again. I can put footage together where he just plain gave up on defending or attacking. Even Holden played better. What the heck?
    11. Nery Castillo is a hothead and I hate him for trying to help a U.S. player up. We all agree he was dumb. You can bet he won't be starting or getting as much playing time until other time.
    12. Onyewu held on to a ball knowing the Mexican players would want it. It was his funeral.
    13. I almost pooped when Holden sent the header to Davies.

Stop whining. When have I come into a thread with excuses for my team to play as poorly as yours did yesterday? Show me.

how about spazzo? since guys are spazzing out at the refs. either way i can't stop because only nads think a home team isn't going to get calls. do you watch sports?

instead of focusing on the refs, why don't you call out blackmouth. he was burned on the flanks all day and commited stupid tackles. or landycakes who went MIA after the assist, only to be seen again getting burned by juarez on the game winning goal. or ching who started but stayed in the locker room, he shouldn't even get a "Participation" ribbon. how about traffic cones clark, bradley, and dempsey, it look like you played without a midfield. or how about coach and his ridiculous anti-football empty bucket tactics.

you see there is plenty to discuss, and it has nothing to do with referees!!

your 2 best players yesterday were howard and gooch. if it was not for their play, it could have been 3 or 4 goals against. fyi... gooch is going to miss the next game which is not good for the nads.

we got calls in the tunnel and during the anthems. now that is biased ref!!! torrado OMG!!!, call the police!!! ITASCRIME ITSACRIME!!!

the only crime was benny's attempt at acting. i thought torrado was freddy kruger or wolverine watching benny's reaction. torrado isn't kobe, he should have got a yellow and he did. btw... torrado will miss costa rica which is not good for el tri.

fyi... USA has lost to Mexico twice in 2 1/2 weeks. It's AWESOME!!!
