I wonder why he hasn't gotten more of a shot. They could use him on the left and his free kicks. This team as currently constructed will get through the first round. Panama might be the only real test. Winning the Cup is another story. Sunil Gulati needs to grow a pair and fire Bradley after this tournament, regardless of the outcome. There's still time to get things together with a proper coach for 2014. Anyone who still thinks Altidore, Bornstein, Leicjhjsadf (sp?), Kleiasjkdtinggs (sp?), Rogers, Adu (who couldn't even make the bench in a friendly?), etc, should have their head examined. There are better American players available and he passed them up in the hopes that he might be proven right someday. Thank G-d for Donovan, Dempsey, and Howard...even Michael Bradley. Without them, this team is complete s***...as proven in the first half today.
Huh? I dont get it, how can you root against your country?? Its ok to root for other country, (especially if you have something that connects you to that country) but not If they are playing against your own country. If you didnt born in the US, then im sorry and forget my comment.
I agree. The rehiring of Bradley baffled me, especially when Jurgen Klinsmann was available and willing. However, I've heard rumors that Klinsmann wanted to completely overhaul not only the USMNT, but the whole system of soccer development in the country. He wanted to create a more academy-based system, a la Europe, that would ultimately benefit the US in the long-run at the expense of the immediate. For an organization as reactionary as US Soccer, this was unacceptable; they feel the need to constantly be good enough to make SportsCenter sometimes, nothing more. A Gold Cup here, a Round of 16 there, that's all that matters to them. What made me irate about this Gold Cup, in particular, was the omission of Timothy Chandler. I know he's raw, but he's not fully locked-up to the US (although he won't play for Germany; they're blessed with so many players, they don't even need to take a look at him) and this tournament would have given him some important playing time, especially in any matchup against Mexico, not to mention guarantee he plays for us. A new coach (Klinsmann, please) would hopefully bring in an actual style to this team. Bradley's patented style of "Boot it downfield, while avoiding the midfield altogether, and hope it bounces it front of a forward" is the most maddening aspect to his tenure. The inability to keep the ball on the ground and establish a rhythm has made our team rely wholly on luck and not skill.
Meh. It was an ass whooping....hate making excuses, but the USA was with out their best players. And the experimental group....was fail.
I doubt it would have made much of a difference. Spain's B squad would have beat USA's 1st team comfortably. Its the truth.
¡Vamos, México! beat El Salvador! 5:00 pm kickoff - Univision Yes, but that was a top-form hustling Davies upfront, an Altidore that wasn't afraid to get into a dogfight with the big boys (won a ball with his body off CapDeVilla), and a pre-injury Gooch against an almost too-confident Spain. Del Bosque was out for revenge.
¡Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool!!!! MEX 1 - ESV 0 LOL. 1010 HD on U-Verse. ¡Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool!!!! 2-0 ¡Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool!!!! 3-0
