Bradley just mentioned that he was told the USA were offside. I could not tell anybody involved in the play was offside. very interesting call nonetheless.

Like many, I was impressed with the talent on Univision. So I googled Bárbara Bermudo.

The USA needs to develop a central midfielder that can control the pace of the match.

They have one but he's on the bench. Maurice Edu if fully capable. Clark looks terrible tonight (along with Convey and Corrales). Bradley is having to do the job of 2 mids. Benny Feilhaber is a damn good mid, too.

I agree about Clark - not one of his better games. Have not seen much of Edu so maybe he could help the team. I would like to see Dempsey back in the mid on the right side because I think he is more dangerous running at people than with his back to the goal.

Well looks like Edu is coming in so we can see how he does.

Usually the Mexicans say they outplayed us and deserved to win regardless of how the game went, but after tonight they'll actually be right.

Drew Moor should never play for the US again, hell he shouldn't have ever played to begin with. Both goals were scored by him letting his man run behind him. Clark really did play poorly, the only time we looked good in the second half was after Feilheiber and Edu came in.

    saw the match.

altidore looked great. was willing to mix it up. seemed to lack chemistry w/ the other players and played a little indecisively at times. will improve over time. adu didnt do much. dempsy had a good game.

midfield was atrocious! brandley looked like a lost highschool kid. bad passes, not marking his man, horrendous spacing. clark didnt do too well himself. played very timid. faberhans (?) did look good. was decisive and had good ball control. but still had poor spacing and failed to mark his man on several instances. convey did a disappearing act. donovan had moments but seemed to disappear also.

bocanegra did a great job. same w/ howard. onyewu looked good also. the other defender (reynosa?) looked overmatched at times.

overall, the team looked timid, didnt really fight for the ball. very very poor communication! poor spacing. lack of experience at midfield hurt a lot. still, the future looks good for the US team. senior team members continue to improve while the younger guys show a lot of promise.

on the mexican side, #11 was tearing it up all night. their goalie didnt look that great. played very hard. crisp passes. ran to open spaces. good communication. their defense was a little weak. especially against headers. looked like the US players were able to muscle the mexican players. size seems like a big weakness especially along the back line.

it sucked that dempsey didnt get that goal bc it was pretty amazing. but it was clearly an offsides if you look at the replays. seems as if the refs were giving a lot more calls to the mexican side. and the mexicans were able to hide their fouls better.

on tv it looked like the stadium was 90% mexican fans. wished there was bigger following. didnt like the sports ticker at the bottom of the screen. it blocked the view of the game on several instances.

Even though my Spanish is horrible, I ended up watching it on Univision. Seeing more of the game made up for only being able to understand 1/3 of the commentary.

..and by luck, shady officiating all game.

touch fouls and dives = whistles (and cards) on Americans all night
moderate to hard fouls by Mexico = swallowed whistle

Shady all night. I don't buy the Dempsy offsides line. He had a leg behind the defenders when the ball was struck, but when the ball comes in front of the defender's line, how do you still call that? And how do you make it even more shady by calling it so late? I could be wrong, but that just seemed shady to me. Shady, shady, shady.

I agree with you that the ref was terrible. Allowing the dives with no warning, touch fouls that went didn't go both ways. However, the Dempsey call was the correct one. He was off when the ball was struck, though not by much. It was the refs fault for letting the play go on.

The yellow card for Gooch still confuses me. It was a clean shoulder-to-shoulder tackle - even if it was a foul, it certainly wasn't card-worthy.

I have the same feeling about Corralles. He is freaking terrible all night long. Couldn't mark. Couldn't hit a pass to save his life. Crosses were to no one. Gave up fouls deep in the US end. That's pretty much the definition of a s*** night by an outside defender.
