zactly. lippigs like soccer. apple-pie-eating, mom-loving, god-fearing, gun-toting, facists don't like floppers.
Except... the main reason you see them running out with those stretchers is to get them off the field and resume play as quick as possible. Alot of times players will flop, just to stop play and what not. More often than not, those stretcher guys arn't carrying these guys off for their health. BTW in soccer these guys flopping are supposed to be carded. One of the guys you saw that flopped in the video did get carded for flopping. Technically the same rule applies in the NBA. There is a rule against flopping in the NBA and there's a damn good reason for it. I call it the Reggie Rule. Nobody was better at cheating than Reggie Miller.
Exactly. That is what I am talking about. Being carried off in a stretcher for reasons other than health concerns is dumb. You say it happens a lot, others are saying it doesn't. I will believe you.
“Fifty-eight per cent of the players who were treated on the pitch during the 2006 World Cup eventually turned out not to be injured,” confirmed FIFA in a statement." preconceived indeed.
Man come one... Supervising a football game is way more difficult than an NBA game. Flopping is done less in the NBA because it's not as easy to accomplish, and not because the players are more sportsmanlike. Should I post a video of half a basketball team beating the fudge into paying fans? It's true. Football players flop. NBA players flop. But to say that you don't like football because of the flopping? That's just ridiculous. Fact of the matter is the NFL and NBA were born in America. Same as baseball. So they're more famous now. But as the bordersa ll over the world begin to dissapear and how you have european football players in America, Chinese basketball playersi n America, and American basketball players in the Middle East.. Well... which sport do you think is going to win out? Is it a coincidence that there are American club owners in football, but no non-American club owners in the NBA, NFL or MLB (as far as I know)? Maybe it's just not for you, and obviously that's fine. But the fact that it has the most fans in the world HAS TO at least get you to think "there must be something I'm not seeing, there's got to be something that's extremely appreciated in this sport that I may not enjoy very much but I can appreciate on some level." Oh, and yeah, it's football, not soccer.
Soccer is the most popular sport in america. Americans love soccer...central americans, South americans, and over 25 percent of the United states population. I think that's bigger than the NFL, just in america alone. Believe me,when scola plays his first game, you guys will appreciate the delicate art of flopping. I know that for many years we have been on the other side of flopping, but when you have someone on your team that can flop....it can be a great advantage...give it a chance!
Thats depend where you live, in the US is soccer, because football is the NFL, so, if soccer is football to you, how do you call the sport played in NFL, here in mexico its called either way, but to differenciate one of other here we say "futbol americano" = american football. In spanish they are some many words that they have very different meaning, and some words replace others, all depends where are you (spain, mexico, argentina, puerto rico, etc) And is NFL: National Football League MLS: Major League Soccer So back to the topic: Sometimes I dont know why the players flop in the box to get a penalty kick, and if they didnt flop they could have been score a goal. And swoly is right, in soccer they do more flop because the referee is way back and the referee cant see the ball.
mewogi and others need to get a life and leave it alone, the beautiful game is the most popular sport in the world and it is NOT going anywhere. It will continue to grow. No sport is perfect: -NBA/basketball flaws- Whining after every single foul called (no one in the league has ever committed a foul); Whining after every single non call (no player has ever gone to the basket or taken a shot without being fouled); unlimited game interuptions. -NFL/American Football flaws- Action doesn't last long enough, play starts and ends within seconds; Constant interuption; too much play calling, too systematic, not enough free creativity. -MLB- 6+hour games; almost no action; players juiced up; too slow; talk about weak players, check out the injuries they get: LINK My point is you can pick out flaws to all the sports. The NBA and NFL (baseball is just horrible) are great but soccer is the world's greatest sport. Keep bashing it, you are the ones missing out. The beauty of the beautiful game described perfectly: <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Ns47Nb0lRUo"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Ns47Nb0lRUo" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/i6Ah6298QLg"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/i6Ah6298QLg" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
Wow...at the 2:44 mark when that coach headbutts the player...LMAO...I just.....oh man. What pansies. It's the one thing I hate most about soccer.....and yet I love the sport.
Any fan/ player who tries to act as if flopping is not a major problem in soccer is not a true fan/ player.
I hope you weren't referring to Iraq's recent victory in the Asian Cup. If so, you lost my respect. Akram - Victory sends right message Iraq ride wave of support to lift Asian Cup Photos from BBC
SOCCER unnecessarily uses stretchers so much they even have their own bloopers! <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/xJBfWFhrXDc"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/xJBfWFhrXDc" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/k8_5DWM8XEI"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/k8_5DWM8XEI" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/uMgfrkXGcCw"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/uMgfrkXGcCw" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>

But it is the player/ flopper, not the game that should be blame of.
The Scottish Football Association is going to start reviewing games and handing out punishments for flopping. Hopefully this will be effective and other leagues will follow. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=449439&cc=3888
