With the arrogance of Stern, I'm guessing it will.

Ditto. I'm not the hugest fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I've never understood why people take so much pleasure in bashing what others enjoy to do for entertainment. If it's not hurting you, why bother? Buddha would agree with me.

Thats not such a bad idea. I would tell my team to play on if I was a coach.

Sorry rocketman, but when nba players get hti and scream..do u see them doing flips and cartwheels on the floor because of the "pain"? i mean there are very few floppers in the nba. Most get hard hits and dont even fall to the floor.

Im not starting anything here, but seriously, its incredible how they do it man. That part where the COACH or a staff member headbutted the player, and the staff fell. While the player raised his arms to attempt a push,he saw it wasnt close..what does he do? drop to the floor with his hand on his head....

That hurt my feelings. Can you call a stretcher for me?

It's not as bad, but it does affect the game more from what I've seen. When someone flops in the NBA, it can either lead to negating two points or giving a team a chance to score two points. Just because someone got close enough to another player where they could act their way to the ground. To sit here and criticize soccer for having players do this while acting like there's nothing at all similar in the NBA is absurd.

lol. the coach/player headbutt was the best. what a joke.

well Nash did a nice flailing job in the playoffs...oddly enough he is a huge soccer fan.

and the steadfastness of standing behind people faking serious injuries (a stretcher would necessitate a serious injury in my book) is flat out outrageous.

Im not critisizing anything. Just posting a video of how bad and common the flops in soccer are. I mean WE ALL talk about the flops in the NBA when they happen(during the season..now being summer we dont have much to do).

Soccer is a great sport, hell, ANY sport is great. Flopping is what ruins the image to "out of the box" viewers.
Plus it's funny how they flop in soccer lol. They go nuts.

Yeah, that's the difference. Faking getting hit for an offensive foul and faking severe injury are two different things. If NBA players faked flagrant foul level 2s all the time then it would be comparable.

And I am very, very sorry that I don't think it's great and have a negative opinion about it. Please forgive me.

But it's OK to flop and take two points away from a team or to add points to your team? That's not basketball...that's acting. And just about everyone in the NBA does it.

I always figured a lot of the flopping is due to the fact that there aren't timeouts in soccer. Sometimes these guys just want to stop... running... for a second.

I watched the Dynamo/Morelia soccer match on Sunday. I really only started watching the occassional match once the Dynamo came to town, so I'm no expert... not even a true fan. There were some flops in the game, but there were a lot of cheap shots and dirty plays, too! Every time two guys went up for a header, one would "accidentally" smash the other in the face with his elbow. Seems like there's definitely a lot of bloody noses and busted lips in soccer.

Another time, a Dynamo got in a Morelian's face after he shoved him down while he was going for the ball, and the Mexican guy slapped him in the face! Then he turned to the ref like he hadn't done anything and nothing was called! I mean this was BLATANT. In the NBA, this guy would have been fined and suspended. He wasn't even called for a foul, though, despite it being on camera and everything.

In conclusion, soccer is a weird sport. It is pretty enjoyable to watch, though.

You can't bash the fans. Its not like we cheer when our own team does it. What can we do to stop it?

Show this to the most hardcore soccer fans in the world and it will still be the most popular sport in the world.

That is why soccor is the most popular sport in the world. NBA has a long long ways to go to catch up to soccor, much much more flopping is needed. :D

You guys make it sound like it's a flop fest that halts the game every 2 minutes. It's not basketball or football where there's people standing around waiting for play to resume. Most times refs catch them and tell them to keep moving while everyone plays on. Even on free kicks, many are quick starts to keep the team flow moving.

They are not all called, but how many times do they take a dive? If no one cares about them, they will get up after a while and move on, but they sure as heck flop alot!!

The difference between flopping in soccer and flopping in basketball is that, in soccer,

    a) the ref on the field is watching almost the entire field and when he doesn't see something, only the line judges help...
    b) most of the time the flopper does it when the ref is far away (view the video again, and you will see that the ref takes a while to get there to call the flop or foul)....
    c) the ball is continuously hidden from the ref's view and constantly near the feet, when in basketball, the ball is down on the floor on the dribble, then up on the dribble, then up and down on the drive, and then up and down on the shot...
    d) there is ONLY ONE REF, against THREE IN BASKETBALL...
    e) the cameras are relatively far away, whereas in basketball, the cameras are extremely close to the action and it's difficult to fake anything (except if your last name is Ginobli)

Someone argue against my points, please

It happens way more than I would like, and it's annoying to see. But many are making the implication that 'soccer = bad' or 'America is above watching soccer' because of flopping. Don't be a hypocrite. Watch any Rockets game and I'm sure you've yelled at your tv on the opposing team flopping, or the refs making a bad call, etc. It's a joke. It happens in every sport. It's like people get defensive on why it's not popular here and feel the need to put it down.

The rest of the world doesn't get the NFL. I don't blame them. If I saw a 5 minute clip of a random game, I would never watch it again. Rugby looks way more action packed. But you grow up watching it, learn the intricacies of the game, and appreciate many aspects of it and it's become the national sport. Vice versa for the rest of the world and soccer. There's no need to throw stones.
