Those are pretty freaking cool, but it probably wouldn't be a good idea when you are relying on the hispanic population to fill the seats.
Actually, there's only one reason: it's cheap. All you need is some kind of round device to act as a ball, and some buddies and you've got soccer game. (i.e. "Here. We'll use this inflated pig bladder as a ball. our goal will be between those two trees over there. Your goal will be between those two rocks. Okay? Let's play" And in that mindset, every dirty, poor grunt in every over-populated third world country all over the planet can whip up a game of soccer. That's why it's the most popluar sport in the world.

I dont like hockey, but I've been to a few Aeros games and they were fun, I'd go to see a soccer and hockey game if we had pro teams in town..
maybe people think it's exciting because they grew up watching it and they understand the nuances of the game that you don't, because it's not as exposed here in America. The reverse can be said of some American sports translating to other countries - lacking the history and exposure, it's boring and meaningless to them. P.S. - OMG, soker is lo skorin, u r so clevar. AEG will still own the team. I believe that they still want to sell the team, moving them to Houston is just a step to lose less money and make them more desirable to any potential buyers.
......or you could just grab a basketball by yourself and find a hoop. You dont even need to find anyone else. With all of the other major sports (basketball, football, baseball, hockey) dominating, I just can't see soccer being all that popular of a spectator sport in the U.S. At least not in my lifetime.
The problem is that we in America want to see the best of the best. That is why minor leagues and leagues like the XFL had no one watching them either. When it comes time for the World Cup, it seems to me that many American's get really into it because it is the best of the best and they actually have a team to root for. Unfortunately the other 3 years and 11 months between World Cups, the best soccer we get is minor league soccer,

The article states their original name was "The Clash". That's kind of cool. We should bring that back. Or maybe call them ZZ Top.
Based on recent trends (ie FC Dallas and Real Salt Lake), I doubt they will be the Houston anythings. MLS is trying to get more clubs to name themselves like world football clubs, and not like American sports teams. I like the Texas 1836 idea, but I doubt they'll go with that. If I had to take a guess, Club Houston stands a pretty good chance in my book.
I propose something related to Space and Aeronautics. Uhhh... is the name "Lunatics" taken? In all seriousness, a galactic name would be nice. It seems that most of the Houston teams have adopted the Space City nicknames: Aeros Astros Rockets Comets How about the "Meteors" or the "Sonic Jets" or something like that?
