the 49ers are named after people really, not just a date. i think i already said this somewhere...........oh yeah in my original post. well im glad theres a soccer team in houston, but the name still sucks.
You sir have just been given the Mexican alliance credential. I tried it this chant, and it works! sweet.
Fatty, for your monumentous contributions to humanity, I will personally buy you a big ass gordita if we ever meet...
Yeah, yeah, I know. It's no big deal. But when McNair was letting folks come up with team names, I tried like hell to come up with good names. The others were "Houston Steers" (nobody wanted to be associated with a castrated bull) "Houston Crude" (nobody liked a name without an "s" on the end. "Houston Battlers" - no real comments on this one. I guess it was too generic. and "Houston 36ers" - I got the most feedback from this one because it was original, and had a real history behind it; much moreso than the 49ers. I guess more and more people caught on to the idea, but I was the first to suggest it.
It's not like anyone complaining about the name is ever going to go watch a game anyway. I like the name just fine.
The Philadelphia 76ers - Named after the year the Declaration of Independence was signed in Philadelphia (1776)
