Not only that, neither "Houston" nor "1836" is necessarily in the English language. Seems like a reasonable way to accommodate both English and Spanish speaking fans.

this name is stuuuuuuuupid! what the crap??? how can you have a team named after a year? whats the mascot going to be, a freaking calendar? the 49ers were named after people that came to cali in 1849, so at least thats something. its so weird to say it even: "hey guys you wanna go watch the 1836ers........er i mean the houston 1836es.....err i mean houston 1836?" it doesnt even sound like it has anything to do with sports when you say it! geez. i hope they didnt actually pay anyone to come up with that name.

I just called my cousins in Mexico. They said to give you props, main.

Props to you from me, too, Fatty.

(I'd give you "kudos" or some other bull, but I feel more MACHO than that)

well, theres the exception. but at least they put the "ers" at the end of it so it actually sounds like a team instead of just some weird thing.

You did get a shoutout on 610 a few minutes ago, though.

"I wonder what idiot came up with this name?" -- Dave Harbison

    Congrats.

I like the name, and I don't really understand all the scorn. If you, as a sportsfan, need some cutesy animal mascot to get into a team, well, you're probabaly a chic.

man, i could not agree more. it's traditional. fits well with the sport. i really like it.

i think the alternative was a rocket with teeth or something. :)

Let's just hope the uniforms don't have pin stripes when they finally show them.

Also, the site is updated with the new colors, it looks like light blue will be in the color scheme also.

I think it should be BBS law that any post that mentions cheerleaders should be accompanied with pictures!!

Personally I think it's great, and I think that people who don't think it's great are ignorant and narrow-minded.

    In conclusion, congratz Fatty.

I think it should be a rule to not underline any text that alludes to naked cheerleaders. I was trying for five minutes to click it... :)
