I think the US continues the dominance and gets the victory. However, the team has played shaky during the tourney so anything could happen.

I just hope a Canadain ref is not working the game.

    USA: 2

    Mexico: 1

I saw the USA game last night and I have to say Canada scored on that last goal...It wasn't offsides...However, it is what it is...

I think your watch was off. I recorded and watched the last few minutes again.

Canada was attacking, the ball was passed into the pk area before 4 minutes into extra time. The goal was scored and offfside was called at around 4:09. There was a delay until the IDFK was taken. I am not sure what time because they were showing a replay, maybe around 4:30 or so. A few seconds later the ball was kicked out of bound on Canada's side, then the game was called, around 4:45.

It really did not matter though. The time that is flashed on the sideline if not the official time. The center referee keeps the official time. The game is over when he blows the whistle and no one else.

This is one of my favorite rivalries in all sports. The tension, the drama, the Santa anna chants by US fans, the osama chants by mexican fans...It all leads to 90 minutes of fantastic play :)
U.S wins in dramatic fashion, and donovan apologizes to univision/telefutura/televisa

Mexico might be the underdog to the US now but they have young players like Giovanni dos Santos and Carlos Vela in the pipeline. These two in addition to Nery Castillo and Andres Guardado who are already in the team should give Mexico the edge in the next five years.

Boy could you imagine saying the US was the favorite in this kind of game 10 years ago?

    Times change...

I didn't think this deserved it's own thread so I thought I'd add it here for the soccer fans to read.

Did you guys hear the latest rumor that Tom Cruise is trying to buy the LA Galaxy? I guess he thinks the MLS will blow up with Beckham coming over.

A lot of that is sponsorship money. The LA Galaxy only play a fraction of that.

Also on a side note, FC Barcelona just paid the transfer fee for Thierry Henry. Man watching Ronaldinho and Henry side by side will be pretty cool

Thierry Henry is my favorite player in soccer. He's second to none, even better than Ronaldinho.

Hell yea, I love watching him play. Man I'd be scared to play that team. Henry, Messi, and Ronaldinho playing together just sounds like a nightmare for other teams.

Mexico 2 - USA 1 (if they can't even beat Canada in regulation - then they surely can't beat Mexico)

*although I'll be happy if/when either team loses - USA for beating Canada instead of going to extra time and Mexico for having a stupid referee*

Three Mexican players drop out of Copa America

CARACAS, June 23 (Reuters) - Mexico's European-based defenders Ricardo Osorio and Carlos Salcido and midfielder Pavel Pardo have dropped out of the squad for the Copa America.

The three were missing from the 22-man list announced by the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) on its official Web site.

Mexican media reports said the trio, preparing for Sunday's Gold Cup final against the United States in Chicago, had asked coach Hugo Sanchez to be excused because they were tired.

'I was a player and I have to look at the human side,' Sanchez, who has been fiercely criticised for his team's performances in the Gold Cup, said in the daily newspaper Reforma on Saturday.

'We respect their decisions and have to decide how to face them.'

Salcido will be replaced by Gonzalo Pineda while Israel Castro takes Osorio's place and Jaime Correa steps in for Pardo.

Mexico made one another change from the Gold Cup squad, with striker Francisco Fonseca making way for Juan Carlos Cacho.

Barcelona defender Rafael Marquez, who was included for the Gold Cup but only joined the squad this week, was named along with other top players such as strikers Jared Borgetti and Cuauhtemoc Blanco.

Mexico's Copa America campaign kicks off against holders Brazil in Puerto Ordaz on Wednesday.

Goalkeepers: Oswaldo Sanchez (Santos Laguna), Guillermo Ochoa (America)

Defenders: Johnny Magallon (Guadalajara), Fausto Pinto (Pachuca), Rafael Marquez (Barcelona), Israel Castro (Pumas UNAM), Gonzalo Pineda (Guadalajara), Jose Antonio Castro (America), Francisco Rodriguez (Guadalajara)

Midfielders: Gerardo Torrado (Cruz Azul), Jaime Correa (Pachuca), Ramon Morales (Guadalajara), Jaime Lozano (Tigres UANL), Andres Guardado (Atlas), Fernando Arce (Morelia)

Forwards: Alberto Medina (Guadalajara), Jared Borgetti (Cruz Azul), Cuauhtemoc Blanco (America), Juan Carlos Cacho (Pachuca), Adolfo Bautista (Chiapas), Omar Bravo (Guadalajara), Nery Castillo (Olympiakos)
