This^ I think it's a little embarrassing the way that the national media is running with this as an epic win. I understand that it's never happened before but neither team was at full strength and I think that Italy's missing players were more crucial than ours.
I wasn't really comparing it. Just that Mexico lost all games and USA won all..and trying to bring in the great game just to take away the thunder from the USA game. Lol (Mexico fan)
Stuart Holden and Landon Donovan say hello !!! Both teams were missing key players - it was a great result for the USA. Only a friendly for sure, but it does show that the US team is gaining in class and to win on European soil - on a more regular basis is outstanding. The USA is coming on strong, getting better and better every year, and the youth teams are outstanding, which bodes well for us getting a WC victory at some point. Probably before England...lol DD
Look I know a victory is a victory and its great that USA won, it shows progress. But, you also have to look at the circumstances, Italy had 3 under 20's playing and had a total of 7 regulars missing from the squad. When you have Cassano and Balotelli missing from your team you're missing world class strikers. HOlder and Donovan are good players, but they aren't even comparable to the guys I mentioned. Also lets not forget the facts, Italy had 20% greater possession, 5 times the number of shots, and four times the number of corners. All showing a very one sided game.......Then again I didn't watch the game other than highlights, the numbers can be deceiving.
Mexico looked good in the 1st half, then the 2nd half, was very bad. I dont know why Barrera keeps playing, he was awful, and hasnt played a lot in his team.
