[Soccer] FIFA visiting Houston for World Cup Bid 9/9/10

    True. I think even more games than that will be possible. :eek: How about six or seven, if we get at least 12 stadiums?

    South Africa had 10 venues, and of the 64 total games, Soccer City (Johannesburg), Green Point (Cape Town) and Nelson Mandela Bay (Port Elizabeth) had eight (8) each. That means that the other seven venues shared the rest of the 40.

    Of the 2010 World Cup games, C and H were the only groups NOT to play at least one game in Soccer City, so we could possibly have about a good 20 teams in Reliant Stadium.

    However, there were 12 stadiums for 2006 World Cup Germany, and the most games held by the majority of the venues was 6 matches, so the number of possible teams in one city playing at least one game could be reduced.

    The stadium with the most games in World Cup is Azteca, with 10 games in 1970. Two of the 17 were Final matches (one each Cup in '70 and '86).
