Trying to catch the Korea - Poland game on Gol TV Canada. Does Time Warner carry Gol TV? If so, what Channel? I'm in the NY/NJ Area.
Sure it's not ESPNU? Doesn't show on my schedule. I was hoping to DVR it since I'll be somewhere between Austin and The Woodlands... EDIT: Nevermind...found it
It's not on the guide, but it will be on ESPN. It was changed recently. http://sports.espn.go.com/espntv/espnGuide
So far the USA is playing them about even....Brazil has better control and passing but the USA has quicker forwards on the outside. Nice to watch the end to end action. DD
wow I am very impressed with adu. I haven't really haven't seen him play much but he has been great this game. he is clearly the most talented player on the team. his ball control, creativity, quickness, and passion are awesome to watch.
1-1. That's as scrappy a goal you'll ever see Brazil score. This game has really opened up in the last 10 minutes, both teams are playing great attacking football. The last 35 minutes should be fun.
and just as I post brazil scores. man our defense really doesn't help out our keeper. they have allowed far too many bad situations and one finally broke down...but then again it is brazil and they are amazingly creative and smooth on offense.
2-1 USA! Wow, what skill by Adu to set up the goal! Altidore will credit for the goal, but that was all Adu.
How is Adu not on the Men's national team, his creativity with Donavan would be HUGE up front and in midfield. DD
I think you probably saw the future US forward pair in Adu and Altidore. Without a doubt the future is bright for the US.
I loved how Altidore and Adu used their bodies to shield their opponents to get control...that flip by Adu to get through 2 defenders and the back touch were both quality plays. DD
I still think Adu is more dangerous in midfield, but he's been combining really well with Altidore. It's going to be great to watch these two grow together. That was a great game to watch, two talented teams going at it for 90 minutes. Either team could have won it and a tie would have been fair, but I'm happy with the win.
Nothing is more fun to me right now than watching freddy serve up some crow to all his haterz. So many people out there who have been down on the kid because he didnt live up to the nike hype. Its not like he was a bad player while at dc united or now at rsl, at dc the kid was stuck on the left wing 95 % of the time, at rsl he's playing with a squad that would struggle to beat the smu men's team or ucla's mens team. So many people hating on him, soccer fans and non soccer fans, its been amazing. Another dude serving up his haters is szetela. this was one of the poorest brazilian youth teams in a while.
Until he improves his defense, he can't be played in central midfield, at least not with two strikers. I could see him playing as a link between the midfield and a lone striker, which is basically how he's playing now with the U-20s, but he's a long way from being a CM, especially internationally. Then again he's only 18 and is far from the finished product.
You must be kidding. WTF did you think Nowak was doing w/ him in dc all these years. Thats one of the reasons nowak wouldnt play him in cm, but nowak did him like mourinho did w/ joe cole and adu's defence has improved tremendously. You obviously didnt see large parts of yesterdays match where adu would constantly track back to assist the other mids and defenders. one moment he's up top running off the ball for the other players and the next moment he's assisting anthony wallace at left back in closing down a brazilian attack. The dude's defence has improved and when he does make the leap to europe, he will get even better on the defensive side of things. Look at the 1st goal for jozy, how was it set up? Adu didnt give up on the play and slide tackled the brazilian defender thus leading to the ball bouncing away for jozy. Adu is getting better defensively and will keep getting better. The dude is simply put, an attacking mid, eitherw/ 1 striker or w/ 2 ahead of him.
If Finally watched it today after being out of town. It was a great game for US Soccer as a whole. That might be the first time that a US team was on the field with a Brazil team and it could easily be said that we were the better team. My biggest problem with Adu right now is attitude. He has got to learn to lay off the refs. If you asked him, he never fouled anyone in that game. The skill on that second goal was amazing. He is probably tourney MVP to this point. Man, it sure would be great for the US to finally bring home a major international trophy. I really think they can do it if the defense plays a little more solid and they continue to get production out of Adu and Altidore (who should also get a call up soon...dude is just a finisher).
Here is the next match...on ESPNU. 6:45pm tonight Looks like Brazil snuck into the round of 16 too.... DD
