Seriously, gwayneco? I mean, after all, it was the players that did all that, and on top of that, the ones actually playing in Argentina, right? RIGHT?
Good point. I forget if he came back to say he didn't agree or agreed. I'll have to research it to get that straightened out and correct me further than what you're saying...

Well then good for JDS, re. not complaining. Couldn't have cared less about the story last summer(As I prepared to watch the horror that England and Nigeria were preparing to put me through).

Wow, those players really took stupidity to new heights huh? Oh well, on to the tourney.

I'm putting my support behind Colombia. I believe they are finally back.
Falcao, Guarin and Zapata give me reason to believe.

With regards to Messi, I've heard that mess over the past year or so about how "he doesn't play well for the Argy team or as well as he does for Barca."
I think he's actually played well for Argentina in the past but I lay most if not all of the blame for on the coaching staff over the past few years(Maradona).
For most of Maradona's tenure, he wasn't playing a similar position with the Argy team as he did/does with Barca. He also had to deal with a nutcase as his nat'l team manager who made some weird selection choices at times(but then again what nat'l team manager doesn't?) I think him not being "totally comfortable" with his nat'l team is mostly on the manager. He was comfortable with the U-20's and the U-23's. He's fit in with the national team but without a doubt his performances could be better. I guess this Copa America will be the right test as to how he is used with the team and how he fits in with the team. I think he'll do well.

    Let's go Colombia!

-- I stopped reading there... where did you get "8" from?

Don't you mean the 5 that tested positive for Clenbuterol during the Gold Cup?

I think he got 8 from this story below.

    http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/s...o-players-sent-home-following-scandal?cc=5901

Mexico players sent home after scandal

Eight Mexico internationals have been sent home just days before the start of the Copa America after being caught up in an alleged sex scandal at the team's training camp.
The Mexican Football Federation (FMF) confirmed that Jonathan dos Santos, Nestor Vidrio, Javier Cortes, David Cabrera, Nestor Claderon, Israel Jimenez, Jorge Hernandez and Marco Fabian had all been sent home for violating team rules but would not go into further detail.

Mexico team director Hector Gonzalez Inarritu said: "The rules were broken, the code of discipline was broken and I have to act."

Although FMF officials would not be pressed on the intricacies, news reports in Mexico said the incidents involved players having female guests in their rooms.

The misdemeanours came to light after other members of the squad reported that some personal items, including laptops, iPads, mobile phones and cash, had been stolen from their rooms.

Hotel staff denied they had taken the items and blamed the robberies on girls taken back to hotel rooms who worked in the sex industry.

After an investigation, CCTV footage provided by the hotel subsequently showed a member of the Mexican side's staff chaperoning women into the players' rooms.

"We have videos of the women going into the rooms, brought in by a team manager of the Mexican national side," hotel manager Robert Ramia said.

The ejected players have been banned for six months and fined £3,000 each. The octet are expected to be quickly replaced with the Copa America due to start on July 1 in La Plata, Argentina, where the hosts play Bolivia.

Mexico opted to send an Under-22 side to the tournament in order to rest the star players who won the Gold Cup with a 4-2 win over the USA this weekend.

El Tri beat Ecuador 1-0 on Saturday in their final warm-up match before the Copa America and the incidents are reported to have taken place in Quito after the match.

"The players confessed," Gonzalez said. "They are very hurt, very sorry and they have said they are sorry to their fans...They are assuming the consequences."

Mexico's first game is on July 4 against Chile in Group C, which also includes Peru and Uruguay.

so you didnt hear about all the violence in Argentina after River Plate went down to the "B" League??

Or do you root against England for all the Hooligans in the World Cup?

I dont know about Mexico, the friendly games before the Cup were bad, and a lot the suspended players were starters, so I dont know if they are going to make it, but I will still rooting for them!

Yea but Brazil not playin 100% cuz they already qualified? These guys are young and want to show off for European Clubs AND secure a spot for WC 2014. Think they will have big time motiviation.
Mexico okay, I overread the U22-thing.
But still, Uruguay and Brazil are top-notch international-wise, Argentina is the team to live up to it's hype, the pressure is on them.

    LOL at Argentina frustrated...

Bolivia's 0-0 coming from their physical play seems to be a WIN for them so far at the half. Bolivia is playing better defense than offense.

Man, are the people in the stadium nervous...

Wow! The argentinean fans are stunned!

What a start to the tournament if Bolivia can hold on.

I was rooting for Bolivia to hold on, they should have been up 2-0 but that one dude messed up the 1 on 1 opportunity with the goalie. Aguero and Da Maria really stood out for the Argentinian side, Messi again at times was invisible.

Not the same. Mexicans come to the US in droves - which is fine by me - but then they still support Mexico versus the US team. That shows no class, especially for Mexican-Americans who have been here for generations. My ethnic heritage is English, but I sure as hell didn't root for England in last year's World Cup.

That was a close call for Argentina. There would have been riots in Buenos Aires had the Albiceleste lost.
The U.S. Men's National team will NOT win the die-hard Mexican fans over, man, much less if the locals don't even go to the games or support their own team. Look at how many MEXICO fans bought tickets and how many U.S. fans DIDN'T. Get over it, man. How is that classless?

LOL! You expect for a die-hard MLB Braves fan to... no, better yet: a Yankees' fan to come to Houston and all of a sudden become an Astros fan, even if the Astros suck? Good joke, man.

Little bit of a difference between a regional team and a national team. Not the same at all. Bottom line - either you are an American or you are not. And if you are not in terms of legal status and you want amnesty - well, when in Rome (and that applies to matters other than sports as well).
