Liverpool got lucky that inter was **** today. I mean come on, this liverpool team lost to BARNSLEY AT HOME. I am really nervous about the Arsenal-Milan tie tomorrow, gunners please get a nice comfortable victory, can't slack off like we did against manutd
Liverpool's loss to Barnsley was not a typical loss. Reds outshot them 31(20) to 11(7). You have to give credit to their goalie, Luke Steele for playing a stellar game. This is a very good Liverpool squad, and I am not surprised by the result against Inter. Although I will admit that if Materazzi didn't get the red card, this game would be much closer.
Interesting, I haven't heard about Steele for a couple of years. He came up through the Man United academy and reserves.
Very happy for the Scousers last night, great result against a great team. Now it's time for the Gunners to get the job done
0-0 is the last score i expected for the Arsenal... at least we didn't concede a goal... But we outplayed them bad and deserved at least 2 goals
milan played very well on defense, but arsenal blew so many opportunities.. it's going to be tough to beat milan at san siro. abebayor's face after that last attempt was priceless.
That statement makes little sense. Milan will want to come out and play in the return leg. Making this a winner take all game is fine with me, honestly don't think playing in the San Siro will be that big of a factor for Arsenal. I'm glad Gattuso was back for this game and Pato played. Milan has a lot more to lose and after some early jitters in this game, I think Arsenal will be the more relaxed team next time. Now they know they can open up Milan's defense.
Matches start in less than an hour. First leg results in parenthesis. Man United - Lyon (1-1) Milan - Arsenal (0-0) Sevilla - Fenerbahce (2-3) Barca - Celtic (3-2)
FABREGAS WHAT A GOAL.... What an Italian job by my Gunners, WHAT A GAME! Fabregas Goal: http://101greatgoals.magnify.net/item/XJQRXW635KKNMMR7
Man, I feel like Lyon really could have done better, I was really not impressed by Manchester United during those two games. Sure, they have unbelievable individual talent, but except for the first 25 minutes of game 2, they never really played as a team. Too bad it felt like only 2 or 3 Lyon players really wanted to win today, it seems like the other ones were just happy with being at that stage of the competition. It's just too frustrating to lose while not really trying. I think I would have liked better to lose 2 or 3-0 while trying to play than lose 1-0 while not trying anything....
AC Milan just played uninspired soccer. They were playing too conservative and slow. Kaka was pretty much useless and whenever something didn't go his way he just pouted and walked off. I still can't believe Fabregas made that goal from so far away, I was sure the keeper was going to snag it.
Another poor showing from Man United in Europe, but we still advance. I'm glad to see Milan out, after the last few years, I'm glad we won't have to face them in the later stages.
Here's the draw for the rest of the competition: Arsenal-Liverpool Chelsea-Fenerbache Schalke-Barcelona Man United-Roma I'm delighted to see Arsenal's draw. They'll now face Liverpool three times in nine days before making the trip to OT. That's three physical matches that will likely leave their squad drained. If United didn't already have the upper hand in the Premiership, surely they do now.
Fixtures for the next month (not counting Boro tomorrow): Sunday, 23 March Chelsea v Arsenal, 16:00 Saturday, 29 March 2008 Bolton v Arsenal, 15:00 Wednesday, 02 April 2008 Arsenal v Liverpool Saturday, 05 April 2008 Arsenal v Liverpool, 15:00 Wednesday, 09 April 2008 Liverpool v Arsenal Sunday, 13 April 2008 Man Utd v Arsenal, 16:00 Ouch
Chelsea got lucky. With no Messi and Arsenal still hurting, I think it's United's or Liverpool's to win.
RVP is going to play a huge role IMO. With that schedule there will be little room for caveats when Arsenal win the league. As far as the CL goes, I really don't think Liverpool can beat us over two legs.
