I think this thread is as knee jerk and stupid as it gets, but let's not act like the Spurs without their finals MVP and all-star PG Tony Parker are the defending champs. The team we lost to was: Joseph Green Belinelli/Ginobili Duncan Splitter That is not a playoff team in the west. We lost because of Hack-a-Dorsey and Dwight missing free throws. We lost because we turned the ball over too many times. We lost because of our inability to grab a rebound at key moments in the game an to stop them on the break. We lost because of offensive fouls and back court violations. I think you guys are giving too much credit to a team that lost 7 of there last 10 games.
I just took an after Christmas dump, & it made more sense than this thread…also had more basketball knowledge than OP… Oh and I found this little gem: Not from my vietnamese brother btw: http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showpost.php?p=7232548&postcount=200
Lol you think Jones would of had better numbers? He's gotta be in the game to pull that off. This is Smith's 2nd game. His debut wasn't too bad, but let's focus on his second game where he didn't look too good. Lets be fair too and say that Pat Bev got used & ABUSED by Cory Joseph as well.... Smith wasn't the only one looking ****ty tonight. The only Rockets were mentioning in tonight's loss was Howard & Brewer!!
After tomorrow's win against the Wizards OP will start a thread on whether or not we can afford to keep smith.
The Rockets lost 2 of there last 5 games. Only one with Smith. I think the Rockets problems are bigger than the Josh Smith signing honestly.
Misses 6 and 7 were at a critical juncture. My point was that we saw nothing of the "take it to the iron" Josh Smith that McHale was seeking. We saw a lot of that in his debut game. I like the signing; he just needs to return to the "McHale form" displayed against the Grizzlies.
I don't disagree. I'd rather him take it right to the rim 100% of the time and dunk it just for good measure, tbh. Seemed to me like he passed up a lot of those good opportunities tonight in favor of trying to set up other guys instead... hopefully he'll find a balance between over-shooting and over-passing, especially when he has a good look at the basket himself and guys are ice cold from the perimeter. That said, I can live with the little floaters and runners in the paint. I think. I reserve the right to amend this opinion after 10 games or so.
Wow - don't you think you need a little more evidence? 2 games, 1 good and 1 bad doesn't give us much to go on.
Correction* The Rockets lost 3 of there last 5 games. Everyone said we would only get better once we got healthier. It has been the opposite even with Corey Brewer playing like a maniac.
It's been the opposite because without Dwight, there was D-Mo in the post - and the other big man played the Asik role of last year running around setting screen after screen. There was no dumping the ball into a stiff into the post and having the possession die (I love you Dwight... this is one of only two bugaboos I have with you), everyone knew this was James' team and James knew it too. He still gets his even with Dwight - but there's still possessions where he accepts he needs to just dump it down low to Dwight to make him happy. On the defensive side of things neither Black nor Dorsey were high leaping shot blockers like Dwight - so they didn't try to block every thing - meaning there was a big body on the ground ready to box out. I think this contributes a lot to the defensive slide we have seen with Dwight back FYI.. bugaboo #2 is his pointless goaltends which don't intimidate the other team - rather just gift them 2 points
I guess I can go ahead and stop watching the rockets this year since we are going no where now..smh. It's DECEMBER. Last night was a sloppy game all around. On the game thread people were wanting the jet benched for not being able to hit a three. Once Beverly got in ,people wanted Canaan in. So much knee jerk in this thread it's pathetic.
Nope I never liked his game. He started out bad and did pretty good in the end. I don't like his bad habits he has he took like 11 jumpers that's game and only made 2. He needs to focus on attacking and stop trying to create for others just let james handle that. I don't why if he would take jumpers if he can't hit his free throws at a high rate smh
I know right. What would have concerned me is if he was having a bad game and continued to jack up shots. Instead he decided not to and tried to make plays for his teammates. Had some turnovers, but I like what I'm seeing so far out of him. I think once this whole new unit has some time together we'll be contenders.
Hell yeah.... sounds like emotional wreck Sorry but wo cares Smith is one of the guys that can't shoot but is still valuable. Tells you how much talent that guy has.... never been more excited about Tmac and Penny lite lite
typical knee jerk reactions...reminds me of al the stupid things people say during a game in the thread......waste of time to even open.
