If you are TRULY going all in, then why is money or guaranteed contract a factor?

I mean Dorseys deal was not too much to eat....you could have offloaded him and a 2nd round pick...

Watch what people do versus what they say.

Because we want to be able to make more moves this year if the opportunity arises.

All in doesn't mean to nuke all capspace and not make anymore moves.

It depends on what you are going all in for LOL. Paying Chris Bosh 20M and resigning Parsons at 10M (my fair market value price for him), that's worth going all in for.

On the other hand the difference between Tarik Black and Dorsey, IMHO the talent difference isn't really worth cutting Dorsey. If you cut Dorsey that means you're paying 2M this year and 2M next year but don't get a player in return, so Black should be good enough that he's worth his salary this year and Dorsey's salaries this year and next year. Is Black that good? I don't really think so.

Plus, suppose we cut Dorsey and keep Black, then Black plays so well some other team offers him 5M next year. So this means to keep him around, we have to pay Black 5M and we pay Dorsey 2M, or basically what Asik was making. On the other hand if we let him walk next year, then we just lost both Black and Dorsey, and we still need to pay Dorsey 2M so basically any replacement center we get costs 2M+ automatically. Personally I always weigh the risk vs the reward of any move, the reward of keeping Black isn't worth the risk of ending up with no backup center and having to pay 2M on top of that.

You go all in, you pay the luxury tax - I think they are going for it, I just think the pieces fit better together before we signed Smith.

Smith will be fine for what he will be asked to do. Be prepared to see him play as essentially a better defensive version of Terrence Jones.

I would be 1000% OK with that. Healthy Jones with Smith-like defense would be huge for us.

Yep, that is the hope, but right now, our offense needs help, it is Harden and Howard vs the world...we need more offense or two way players in the lineup to help.

Dude. We didn't lose anything when we signed Josh Smith. He's played 3 games and he brings much more to the table than his subpar shooting (which I believe is just a product of the shot decisions) the dude will undoubtedly fit better with the team sooner than later.

Our team got better. Smith > Tarik Black easily.

Look at the doubts about Troy Daniels traded for Brewer. Brewer plays an infinitely more significant role than Daniels ever could. Josh Smith will be huge for us (my personal assessment)

Yes, I think the Rockets have always been one of the favorites this year, before Smith, but I have serious doubts about his ability to play winning basketball - and stay within his own strengths.

    Anyway - I have said it a lot...I hope I am wrong.

He still wasn't great. Offensively he was typically bad. Defensively he was decent.

Still have no idea why people are complaining about Jsmoove.
Defensively, his an upgrade over DMo, TJones, Dorsey
Offensively, still an upgrade over DMo, TJones, Dorsey.

He is playing within the system, he salary have small effect to the Rox's cap and on top of that, he is buddy with Dwight and keeping Dwight happy is crucial for Rox.

He certainly hasn't been an upgrade offensively so far over DMo and especially TJones.

He needs to move without the ball more and cut to the rim, if he starts playing like TJones did then he will be fine on offense.

    Defensively he is excellent.

Just need to get him the ball in the right position and situations. I think based on the Memphis game, the team was comfortable with letting him handle the rock more and create. Then they realized that was a terrible idea and are now minimizing that mutually.

we signed him cuz we needed an excuse to further break down the team chemistry and hamper dmo's production with smith having one decent game then put him into the starting lineup.

also playing howard 29 minutes, 6 turnovers. say goodbye to kostas. thought harden and ariza were gonna sit on the bench more? EHHH, WRONG! mchale's random number generator had other plans for the rotation. kostas, canaan - YOU'RE OUT OF HERE! ariza, YOU STAY BRICKING THREES, NO REST FOR YOU. harden, SUCK IT UP YOU'RE GETTING 45 MINUTES NOW. howard? YOU'RE A 2O MILLION DOLLAR ROLE PLAYER NOW!

He needs to be what Jones was going to be if he was healthy; a clean up finisher who sets picks, cuts to the basket and attacks the fastbreak. Overall, he is not doing that. He did it a little bit tonight which is when he looked good. He did that in Memphis and had his best game.

Right now he is very timid. Not too sure where to be be or where to go, and to compound the problem, he isn't hustling too much. When he gets confident, is when he will succeed
