I don't think we gonna put some bench player from other team to our starter position, rice will more likely to be the starter, houston gonna use every last bit of him before the contract is up.

This will really trip up Gene Peterson's playcalling.

    DC,

Thats the thing though. We are fortunate to have good rebounding guards who can make up for our poor rebounding PFs. I think the ultimate goal is to get Mobes and Francis away from their rebounding duties and out on the break more receiving Thorpe-esque outlet passes from Yao.

I am dying to see if JVG can convince these guys to run more. EG would be the ultimate benefeciary if we can accomplish this.

I think Rice will start at SF based on what AG said:

"They already have a great nucleus, with Yao Ming, (Cuttino) Mobley, (Steve) Francis and Rice. They have great players already. I just have to do what I can to help."

CD must have said to AG that Rice will start and he will come off the bench to prompt him to say that.

I don't think it really matter who starts.
The way I look at it, Mobely plays 36 mpg this season so that leaves 12 guard minutes and 48 forward minutes to split between Piatkowski, Rice, Griffin, and Nachbar, depending on who the matchup is.
I like that they all bring something different, one is a deadeye shooter, one is a nice defender who can go to the hole, one is a veteran leader who can spot up and post up a little, and one can bring the ball up the floor, dribble behind his back and lose it off his foot out of bounds.

    Francis
    Mobley
    Nachbar
    Taylor (with E. Griffin rotation)
    Yao (with Cato rotation)
    Bench: Norris, Piatkowski, A. Griffin

Rice will be traded for a future first and second rounder by the season opener; Hawkins and Badiane will ride the pine as 11th and 12th men. IR may include T-Mo, Miskeri and a miscellaneous big man like Alton Ford.
