Yeah, I think Bosh would actually be a great fit--prob. the best option out of Milsap, JSmith, Jefferson, etc (maybe on par with Love??). Although, I would love to see DMo get some minutes. The guys offensive post moves are NBA caliber and his offensive overall looks great. I hope he can learn how to play D but I think he's what we need. Bosh is good too b/c he can run with this team. Thats why I'm not for ZBO or Jefferson b/c they are prob. too slow for this system.
Parsons will go somewhere, and probably one of Patterson, Morris or Jones, if Morey feels he can get Kevin Love whose heart seems set on leaving Minnesota.
Interesting statements by Morey in recent interview: “We’ve been aggressive,” Morey said. “I think we are going to be a little stable now. We were aggressive until we got an All-Star to build around, and we feel like we have that with James [Harden], so you will see us a little stable, build around James and obviously we are going stay aggressive to improve but probably won’t see as much turnover as in the past. “I don’t know about pressure,” Morey continued, when asked if there was pressure to make a move. “We are always looking to upgrade… We were aggressive and had more turnover than even I would have liked in a constant pursuit to get someone like James and now I think we are going to be a little stable with this group. They are all about 23 years old.” http://www.hoopsworld.com/morey-sees-rockets-roster-as-stable/#HTdGH4hqeRPTmgzi.99
Interesting... Something like Asik for Bosh might make some sense. We get our two way big and the heat get their cheap defensive big man that doesn't need the ball in his hands. Don't know if the Heat would be willing to give up a "star" for a great role player on a bargain deal - perhaps if we add a pick and one or two of our young players. I am not sure if I want Bosh - he is not really young anymore and he hasn't shown elite talent since he's been on the heat. But if he can get back to his Toronto ways him and Harden might be a great building block.
Morey said on 790 today that if they do trade for an All Star caliber player that they won't be picky about the position. He also said he didn't feel a low post power forward isn't exactly what they need because it would put two players in the box making it more difficult for the guards to drive. Maybe one coming off the bench. I don't think a major trade is going to happen. Maybe just upgrades to the bench.
I think Josh Smith is the best option. He fits the offense and he brings rebounding and big time shot blocking ability. But I don't think PF is a major issue for the Rockets especially with D-Mo and T Jones waiting in the wings. The Rockets are weaker in the backcourt than the frontcourt. I think that's where an addition and or change will be made.
If you look at each position we have players who are good, but most importantly YOUNG and IMPROVING. Lin is improving and next year I can see him really taking off, same with parsons and Asik. Now most people bring up the pf position, we have a cluster of young players who have improved (2pat/Morris) and players who have high potential(moti/jones/white?). Morey is going to look to improving/adding the parts around that as he said in today's interview. Only way I see us breaking up that young core is for someone like Love.
I was never a fan of Pau Gasol, but i think now might be the best time to explore a trade for him. His value is very low and he can fit right in with this group. However knowing the Lakers FO and how they think every other team is their farm, they might ask for too much. But if i had a choice, I would say Cousins over kevin Love and Aldridge
I think a Gasol like move is exactly what Morey is probably avoiding at this point. By all counts it seems like Morey wants to allow this core (at least Parsons/Asik/Harden/Lin) to gel together for a number of years. I think the "star" that we get will be on the younger side (maybe the oldest being a Danny Granger type). I agree with Carl that Kahn probably won't give up on Derrick Williams, but that screams a buy-low Morey move if he could be had for minimal assets (seems a piece like Delfino would be extremely valuable to the T-Wolves, who need perimeter players). I always thought he had potential to be really good if he played the 4 full time. As I've said a number of times, I hope that Morey is actually able to get another solid small forward and slide Parsons to the 4. I really love that small ball line-up (and the Rockets post insane offensive stats with Parsons at the 4). Don't be surprised if the Rockets hold onto their cap room for the summer of 2014 by the way. (LeBron, Wade, Bosh, Kobe, Dirk, Granger, Bogut, Deng, Pierce, Gasol, Anthony, Stoudemire, etc. are all available.)
Really? I think the Harden-Lin-Delfino-Douglas rotation is solid. Right now the 3 and 4 are probably where we're the weakest and that's where a move will probably be made if there are any big ones.
Morey said he'd like to get another star-type player, but that he doesnt have to be as good as Harden. Aldridge seems to fit the bill. I think Morey would deal for Aldridge in a sec, if he could.
From the Morey 790 interview, sounds like any 4 we get needs to be a stretch 4 that can hit from outside to give driving lanes for Lin/Harden. Morris/PPat fit this mold, if not consistently enough. Ideally D'Mo would become this player, but right now that seems a long way off.
Granger is looking like a 1b option with George looking like"the face of the frachise"#rmiller If you could grab him and a realistic available pf imo milsap... Lin Harden Granger - again, with the emergence of George he becomes somewhat of what I call an "asset"... Milsap-I think most realistically obtainable pf Asik It could happen...
To add some more detail to what others have posted already about Morey's comments regarding a low post option, during the 790 interview today, cause I know it's been of interest to a lot of folks: Morey was asked, is a low post option something you are trying to add to team? and Morey responded it was not something the Rockets "have to have". That, in an "ideal world," they would have a low post option. That, in general, right now in NBA, you want low post to be at 5. That Asik is getting better but probably will never be that guy; maybe a guy off bench can be low post option. He said, if low post at 4 (someone without shooting ability), spacing gets hard
P.Milsap, R.Anderson, E.Ilyasova is who i'd like if were going to for a starting quality PF that can hits 3's. Anderson a Ilyasov hit basically 1 3pt a game, def not the case for Milsap only hitting .3 a game but he still has range and has made 43% of the ones he's token. They all are also decent rebounders, all avg over 10 rebounds per 48. For a backup roll, young and cheap I'd like austin daye, he's been hitting one 3 a game for his 15 games and is avg 60% on it. A bit more expensive D.Wiliams, he'd be pretty hard to get though and like some have said not to much of a upgrade over marcus to give up anything but a steal basically. And for someone just to nab, probably only cost a 2nd round pick is Cartier Martin, who's hitting about one a game at 38.6%.
And josh smith, hitting about .8 a game on .353%, and for those who say he can't shoot, are saying parsons can't shoot the 3 either because he's avg a higher % than him. Granted parsons makes one more a game, its still a valid point. He also grabs 11.5 rebounds per 48, and plus we all know he's a great defensive player and has crazy athleticism.
