Graduated in 1995 with a B.S. in mathematics from Middle Tennessee State University with minors in Science (16 hrs of Chemistry and 8 hrs of Physics) and *giggle*, athletic coaching.

Went for 2 years to graduate school to get a masters in math at Unversity of Alabama in Huntsville but was unable to finish.

Currently working on a MBA at night at MTSU. I have classes on Monday night and Tuesday night with the 2 worst teachers I have ever have. I thought I was going to fall asleep 20 times tonight.

Broadcast Journalism degree with an emphasis on SportsCasting, graduated May 1990 from Southwest Texas State University.

Started going for my Masters in Public administration soon afterwards while I interned at the KSAT 12 Sports department in San Antonio Texas.

Finished my internship, dropped out of Grad school and got an offer to be the weekend sports anchor at KGNS Pro 8 news in Laredo Texas....I was GEEKED until they told me that I would be making 12k a year.....I was making 3 times that Bartending on 6th street.

Oh well, time to change career paths....let's see...what do I like to do the most...I know play computer games....so I went into that industry.

    Life is good !!!

    :)

wow. a broad range of studies. as for me, who knows where a film degree will take me.
I did, however do an online internship for Warner Bros. promoting films on message boards, I also interned at SusanBlondInc , a PR firm representing Usher, Aerosmith and we handled the Michael Jackson 30th Anniversary Celebration, that was pretty wild.
i also worked with kids for a while in Rockland County New YOrk.

I am currently assisting at a talent agency here in NYC in the meantime, trying to figure **** out.

University of the Pacific (home of the biggest #1 bust in NBA history Michael Olowokandi) in Stockton, CA (home of crappy musicain Chris Isaac, or whatever that idiot is called). :( But I think it is really a fine school, otherwise I would have gone somewhere else (I probably could have gone to almost any school with my SATs). :D

Majoring in Computer Engineering. I have 8 more months of school and 7 more months of internship before graduation. The internship program here is great, I will probably be able to get a pretty good job in most component design fields after graduation. I should be headed back to Intel this May.

For anybody still in school, I strongly recommend getting some type of internship experience. You may put off graduation by a little while, but it looks great on a resume and you will probably even be able to start with a higher salary when you graduate.

Where do I begin? The good and bad (from a biased point of view):

    BAD:
The weather. It's depressing for about 8 months out of the year. Grey skies, loads of snow (and hence cold weather), a trickle of rainfall that's too little to use an umbrella and not look foolish, but enough to get you wet over time (we call it "ithacating"). Every once in a while, you'll get a gorgeous day and really appreciate sunshine, but that's rare.

The people. "Townies" tend to be nice, but they're extremely liberal and sort of hickish. People claim that Ithaca was populated when a group of hippies went to Woodstock, stopped in Ithaca on the way back home, and never left. As for the school itself, diversity is the keyword, and it's a melting pot. I hate to say it, but sadly, the extreme stereotypes portrayed in the satirical movie PCU are indicative of Cornellians in general. In fact, you might say that PCU is Cornell. There's a protest every day for something at Willard Straight Hall. Save the whales, PETA, nuclear disarming, yadda yadda, whatever. It gets old fast. And don't get me started on the Long Island girls (which make up roughly 30% of Cornell's female population...

The town. Boring is an understatement. There's one small mall that sucks, an abnormal number of car repair shops, 2 colleges, a small downtown area, and... well, that's it. If you want a bigger town/city, Syracuse is an hour away. Isolated = sux. You definitely need a car there.

The restaurants. Small town with a couple of fast food joints. Not much else. To be fair, there are some pretty good restaurants (Heights Cafe and Grill, Lucatelli's, Thai Cuisine, etc.), but, for the most part, it's crap. Coming from Houston, I really missed having something... anything... remotely similar to Chili's around. There's not. No chain restaurants of any kind around (minus fast food).

Sports. Cornell sucks at everything, except hockey. If college sports are important to you, Cornell is not the place to be (although hockey games were awesome).

The Nightlife. What nightlife? Austin, this ain't. There are about 7 bars in Collegetown (right below Cornell), and only the Palms and Ruloffs are worthwhile. Other than that, there's nothing to do there (minus the occasional hockey game, of course). You could go to fraternity parties, I guess.

    GOOD:

The setting. Ithaca is a beautiful place. Absolutely breathtaking. Lots of bridges and gorges. In fact, the "slogan" of the town is "Ithaca is gorges." If you like the outdoors (i.e. nature) and country/farm settings, Ithaca can be definitely considered picturesque. If you come from the 4th largest city in the U.S., however, you may not like it at all...

The school. Cornell Law School (Hughes) is nice, from what I hear. So, I guess that's a plus. Not sure if it's cutthroat.

The people. Okay, so the people aren't that bad. On the whole, Cornellians are pretty damn intelligent (definitely smarter than me) and able to carry on a decent conversation. Wish I could say the same about most of the people I encounter in NYC...

That's my take after 4 years in Ithaca. Just one man's opinion....

Apparently I'm like many on the bbs who only use their degrees during cc.net arguments. BA Political Science and Masters (Communications- Philosophy of Rhetoric). Schools include U of (Elvin)H(ayes), Joe Dumars State, and Southern Clyde Frazier University.

I got into Cornell, but never went... stayed home 'cause I love momma. :D

One thing about a teacher I had that went to Cornell told me was every year you hear about somebody jumping off a bridge and into the river because they crack under the pressure of the curriculum. Sad. :(

I started off with good intentions of getting a chemical engineering degree back in 1981, but 6 years, three colleges and one marriage later I got an AAS in Chemistry from Alvin Community College.

Same marriage, three kids, and 4 jobs (two careers) later, I get paid a buttload of cash to surf the net, play fantasy leagues....oh, and try not to blow up half of the ship channel.

Sadly, this is true. There were about 3 suicides during my college tenure (plus one drunken freshman who fell off a gorge and died after attending a fraternity party). There's a saying about the school: Easiest Ivy to get into, toughest to graduate from. Sometimes, I wish I had stayed close to home and attended Plan 2/Business Honors at UT. At least then I could've partied all night and gotten away with doing as little work as humanly possible... :D

HEY NOW! No reason for that kinda stuff there, DOD. :)

Haven, you caught me (sort of). Maybe I should have said I no longer work in my field of study. I own an IT recruiting firm (operations in London and NY).

Another Honors college grad who majored in Psychology and minored in English. I had Dr. Monroe and Dr. Estes as my Human Sit small group professors, and actually learned to be a pretty good writer due to their help. Monroe also went to bat for me when I applied to law school. So while the Honors college is definitely geeky, I can't complain.

Princess, does Paul Cook still teach Poly Sci at UH? He was a total ballbuster in the classroom (first time I experienced the socratic method) but then nobody got lower than a B in his class. He was on permanent visit from Harvard so I guess he picked up the grade inflation from there. :D

OK, just making sure. That is where i stole the name from. :D

Damn, that's not very nice. Personally, I think most people don't want to hear from anyone who does sales for a living, BUT recruiters do provide great utility for the modern worker providing options for better jobs and higher wages.

There are good recruiters and annoying ones. Just like doctors and lawyers and Indian....uh....Native American chiefs...
