Ive suggested a starting lineup with Harden Thornton Ariza Harrell(until DMo comes) Dwight This could be a very excellent unit.
I'm not seeing why everyone likes Harrell so much. I guess because he's not Jones? He plays with good energy but isn't very good.. yet. I have hopes for him though in the future.
Harden can't play PG, we saw it in the playoffs. This team won't win a damn thing until we incorporate an efficient offense with Harden off the ball. Give Lawson the green.
It is very early on the season, but it already feels nobody will beat GS for the #1 seed. From that standpoint, another loss for the Clippers dies help us if we ever get our chit together.
Not sure if it's already posted but : http://nyloncalculus.com/2015/11/18...ng-for-answers-to-houstons-ty-lawson-problem/ a simple article with some statistics and some solutions offered. It's not that bad with Lawson in small lineups.
omg... when I saw this pic and I thought you photo-shopped his hair or something. He is now a circus clown. I went on youtube to see his "highlights" (which btw, was hilarious since it was made up of him mainly shooting free throws and falling down several times, see link: https://youtu.be/yHryq2jwEIs) and he has the most stupidest looking hair in all of the NBA even more worse than Carlos Boozer's spray on hair. Wtf is wrong with Lin? He is trying too hard to stand out when in reality he's a scrub.
Agreed. We should do it at least at times for maximum offense and rebounding. Thornton has so far seemed to be a better over all, even on assists and defense than advertised. Did not like him at forward as I got tired of being outrebounded.
Avery Bradley He seems obtainable, celtics are trying to wheel and deal, not sure if we have any pieces that they would want TJones, KJ, Dekker works money wise He's a good defender, hasnt played as well on defense the past few years but still good, shoots 40% from 3, 5 3s a game, 54% from the corner. He would be a good 3 and D guy to play next to harden, let harden basically play the pg without having to guard them.
i've never understood the lin hype from the get go a few yrs back, no matter which team he's playing for. he's just another player. sometimes i wonder if the skin of his color was different, would it be a different story. but i wont go there...
Call and run plays. Don't just give the ball to Harden and expect him to make things happen. It's perfectly okay for Harden not to touch the ball. Let the PG (Lawson) bring the ball up, Harden draws a double team, and run a play. Next time up, let Harden bring the ball up, and run a play through him. That's how you play with two point guards. And Harden is not shooting at a high clip (neither is most of the team, I know) so it's very important to get other players good looks too.
Problem with that is lawson looks scared to shoot, he gets the ball mid court and is looking to pass already. (not to mention he looks extremely slow to me right now) I dont know how many times i say him get the ball at the top of the key and pass it to a guarded ariza and want ariza to create instead of lawson himself creating.
He's a new point guard added to a team that went far in the playoffs last year. Of course he is going to want to defer to his teammates. The key is to call plays. Not necessarily him shooting but him setting others up. Run double screens, pick and roll, have Harden run across the lane drawing other defenders and leaving other players open, get the whole team in the flow of the offense.
Im all for calling plays, my biggest complaint about mchale over the years was that he didnt call plays.
We're using Lawson all wrong. I think we expected that he would fit well with Harden but the truth is, he doesn't. He looks out-of-sorts and doesn't play like himself when paired with another ball-dominant guard. It's the same reason Rondo wouldn't work here. I agree that Harden should run the point but he's got to defend better and make better decisions about when to include his teammates, even Howard, and when to ISO. I'm for having a great shooter along side Harden that can defend either the 1 or the 2 and possibly cover for Harden's deficiencies on defense.
This. We already tried "put defenders around Harden and let him make plays" - it's called the McHale system and we were routinely embarrassed by good teams. Yes we were the 2nd seed - does anyone remember how we were also 1 game away from the 6th seed ? Does anyone really think that last year's system can take us all the way ? Harden has to play defense. If his effort is so poor we can't make use of TY LAWSON then we're f_cked anyway. Harden also has to play off the ball *sometimes*. Seriously - we have already seen two years of Harden ISO. It won't win us anything but an ass kicking from the elite teams in the league.
